Best Sun-block and Insect Repellent

We also love Bullfrog. My son, daughter and husband are all fair skinned blondes and it's the only sunblock that works for their skin type. It comes in a pump bottle option and it dries quickly, no greasy feeling. We don't care for the bug spray version though , the bug spray part doesn't seem to work that great. AS far as bug repellent, we are avid campers and really like the Off Smooth and Dry. It doesn't feel sticky or gross and it works well for us. I do not know if it's available in a non aerosol form though.

I use California Baby for both sunscreen and bug repellent. In a very mosquito-prone area you will probably need something with more chemicals though :-(. The CB is available at target and is a zinc oxide. Long lasting, great for your skin, consistently highly rated by the environmental working group, which rates sunscreens each year.

Oh my suggestion is out I like the avon stuff in the aerosol can. They also have a pump version. It is skin so soft expedition strength. It works, best stuff ever and it is a combo.

I have often heard about using the Bounce dryer sheets to keep mosquitoes away. Last weekend we went camping for Memorial Day, and my sister-in-law pulled a box of them out and gave everyone a sheet just when it was starting to get dark. Our site was quite close to the lake, and we still were not bothered at all by mosquitoes. Other than that, the Avon Expedition sunblock and insect repellent have worked for me in the past. Lol, in my campacking, I had forgotten to bring it, so I used Coppertone lotion in the bottle for myself and my 2 year old grandbaby. The dryer sheet for her was pinned to the back of her shirt so she wouldn't mess with it.

I'm not sure about the sunblock - I would look for something mineral based (zinc oxide, titanium oxide, etc. as active ingredients).

As far as insect repellent goes, the only thing that really works for me is Badger Anti-Bug Balm. It comes in a stick form and also in a tin. It is somewhat greasy (not bad if you rub in in good) but it's the only thing that keeps the mosquitos away from me, and I've tried just about everything out there. My husband and I can go outside without any insect repellent on and while the mosquitos don't bother him much at all, they swarm around me. Even when I use regular bug sprays, the mosquitos are still all over me. The ONLY thing that works for me is when I put some of the Anti-Bug Balm on - I don't have any problems at all then. A major plus is that it is organic and all natural - no harmful chemicals.

If you go to Avon.com and go to the "skin so soft" link in there, they have very good insect repellents with subtitutes for Deet. It also has 2 different sun-blocks with insect repellent combined; I've used them and work very well.
Note: check the reviews in the website, I didn't buy the "blue" sun block there because it mentions that it can stain.

I would apply the sunblock and then the repellent. We use Melaleuca's Sun Shades lotion. For repellent, we use Tough & Tender w/ Melaleuca oil...use can use the spray or the wipes and add the oil. Safe and non-toxic.

We use BullFrog. It is both bug repellent and sun screen and it is a pump spray not an aerosol. Works great!

I have a great sunblock but you have to order online. Need 5 business days to get it. Contact me if you want a link. I have very sensitive skin but this one doesn't bother me, it's not sticky...... can't even tell it's on and it has vitamins.

I have no idea on insect repellent. I always worry about toxicity, especially with the kids. I am looking forward to the answers you get.

Arbonne's Sun Screens are great we have several and on just for babies and kids. Also the Awaken Body Mist is great to keep the bugs away. If you can get it in time Avon has a great product. It's the Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus. It's a bug repellent with a built in sunscreen so you're only applying one product. I'm not a consultant I promise :) The product just works. This is the one I use but it does come out blue. Color disappears when its rubbed in.

I have the Off clip-on for my daughter and it works great IF she isn't running around. If you are sitting or just walking it works. I also use the DEET sprays and try to do their clothing and just what skin shows. DEET has to be removed before bed.

I would apply sunblock first and let it sink in, then apply the bug spray.
