Usually the first hormone that falls is progesterone. This falling hormone gives you lots of hot flashes. A person can get progesterone cream at the health food store.
Dear All, My best friend is experiencing relatively early menopause and its symptoms -- especially hot flashes...because of her Hodgkin's Disease which she fought and won :)
My quesiton...How can I help her ease the discomfort of hot flashes??? We live in a hot climate so it makes it doubly hard.
Thanks...
Jilly

black tea, oolong tea and green tea will take care of this. it has to be drank everyday. use honey. helps me.
Take her out for a mocha frappacino or a frozen fruit smoothie. Seriously, drinking something cold helps.
I'm not sure what's worse, having hot flashes in a hot climate, or having them in a cold climate in the middle of winter. I would panic when a hot flash hit me while bundled up in a turtleneck with a heavy sweater, scarf and parka on top. It's hard to get the extra layers off quickly enough, especially when wearing gloves. I'm sure there was steam rising from me!
Black Cohosh has been used for centurys. Getting it in a tincture and adding it to you drinking water means you can increase or decrease as needed.
best, k
clean diet, no processed foods, no sugars. Vitex or chasteberry is really helpful.
