I have the britax roundabout and LOVE it! It is easy to install, adjusts easily and best of all it got great reviews. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask me. Best of luck on your search.
Can anyone recommend a convertible carseat brand and model? I have the Graco SnugRide infant seat for up to 22 pounds, but am starting to plan for the next step. Consumer Reports ranked Britax Roundabout, Evenflo Triumph 5, and Cosco Alpha Omega Elite the highest. I'm interested to know other opinions.

Out of the choices you provided I HIGHLY recommend the Britax Roundabout. It is expensive but it is very comfortable for the child and it has some nice features. One of the neat features is that on either side of the car seat there is velcro and there is velcro on the seatbelt... after taking your child out velcro the belts to the side so that when you put your child back in it will be much easier! It is also very easy to install from one car to the next (unlike ANY other carseat) so if you plan to switch it from car to car a lot then you definitely have to go with this one.
The next best car seat in my opinion is the GRACO ComfortSport Convertable car seat. It is just as comfy as the Britax Roudabout which is why I like it. I feel that kids deserve to be comfy and not sitting on plastic. Best part is that it's less then half the cost of the Britax Roundabout. Not nearly as easy to switch from car to car (unless you have the latch system and then they are all pretty easy to switch... my car does not).
I currently own a ComfortSport and one of my past nanny jobs had me using a Roudabout that they purchased for me to use... I have also had other nanny jobs provide me with different carseats that I did not like at all. I wouldn't go with any other car seat except those two. Just my opinion though, and I'm picky!!
Hope that helps!
My personal favorite is the Britax Roundabout. It is so easy to use and clean. I was a nanny for many years and have tried many carseats! I even saved up money to buy my son the Britax! It is well worth it!
We have the Cosco Alpha Omega car seat and we love it. We have two and my MIL who has the children alot also has two! the fact that it turns into a booster is a huge plus. in the long run it saves money. I also talked to my ped. and they said a high back booster is really the best.
Good luck

Hi Kate,
How much do want to pay first? The Britax ones are expensive(about $350 or more). I have the Cosco Alpha Omega Elite and I love it. My son has acid reflux and gets sick sometimes and I have to clean his carseat. The Cosco is really easy to clean and take apart and put back to gether. I really like the fact that I can recline it back if my son falls asleep in the car. Hope this helps. Good luck!
We had the Alpha Omegas, they are good car seats. Two things though, the straps are a pain in the you know what! They are forever twisting and turning. Which means you are forever fighting with them. Also, take the car seat out to your car at the store (if they'll let you- most should) It is a very big car seat and you may have trouble fitting it in your back seat if you have a smaller car (especially while it is turned backwards)
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my Britax Roundabout! I tried my daughter in other seats and it is by far the easiest to get them in and out of, plus it's higher (they can see out the window sooner) and comfy. The only thing is, she outgrew it by height before she was 40 lbs, and still needed a harness (she was over 4 but under 40 lbs still). So in hindsight I would have gotten the Marathon for a little more money. If you can afford it, it's worth it! The one we got to replace the RA (due to her height) is a pain in the you know what, as the other person said for the AO. I highly recommend the Britax line!
