I always hate when the weather starts to change....like now it is in the upper 50's and I am freezing!! I am in my office and the thermostat says 67 (although my desktop thermo says 64 brrr!!!) I have on a tank top, shirt, sweater, dress pants, blanket on my lap and I am still cold!!! Is anyone else like this? I had bloodwork done a while back and it wasn't my thyroid or iron or anything. I hate being cold when the weather cools off and winter comes along. I really need to bundle up or I freeze!!! I don't know what my problem is or what I can do to stay warm!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

No space heaters allowed :(
I am going to have to bust out the warm socks and knee high boots I think...and get myself some long underwear :)

I am almost always cold, no matter where I go. I discovered years ago while experiencing menstrual cramps at work that a heating pad in my seat does wonders for keeping my top and bottom toasty. I sit directly on the pad, and it warms me up goooooooddd.

It's pretty cold at my job & I would always be freezing. I searched for some remedies on the Internet & read about cold shower therapy. It sounded crazy but I was desperate so I tried it. IT WORKS!! Take a shower & a couple of minutes before you get out use only cold water. It gets the blood circulating. I am warm the rest of the day & energized too.

I'm often cold. I find that drinking hot liquids helps. I do a lot of herbal tea. Other options are just hot water with lemon or lime.

I am like this. My husband is like a polar bear, so we are often at a conflict with the thermostat! I wear socks or slippers or both most of the time, unless I am at the pool or something. My feet get so cold. I rarely wear sandals or open-toe shoes for this reason. I usually dress in layers or long sleeved shirts even in the summer time. When I worked and couldn't count on a comfortable temperature, I drank lots of hot tea. That helped keep me warm. Good luck!

I'm like you, ALWAYS cold. I'm a Rachcicle, anything below 70 is like torture to me. i hate wearing layers, I hate wearing shoes and socks, but I hate being cold more than anything!! I'm just naturally cold!! Get those little hand warmer things, you can buy a huge box of them, and stick them in your shoes, tucked inside your shirt on your wrist, and put one on your chest, those are the places that will help the heat radiate through the rest of your body. Hope it helps! :)

You might want to try wearing clothes with more cotton than polyester or at least wearing soft cotton long underwear beneath your pants. Also, silk blends tend to be warmer to wear too. For me, the more natural the fibers, the warmer the clothes. One other thing, a friend of mine said she eats spicy foods to keep her warm. Might work for you.

I work in an office where we freeze during the summer/early fall then burn up during the late fall/winter/early spring. It's silly. So I"ve learned that no matter what the temperature is outside in the summer, I have to dress in layers (Yes I am the one wearing sweaters in 100 degree heat!). I also have two blankets at my desk (no space heaters allowed either). I also have a coffee mug and tea/coffee that I drink (sometimes boullion cubes too). In the winter, I have my fan on my desk if I'm too hot and wear short sleeves under my shirts/jackets and just take that off when I get to work!

I need to let my hubby read this because he swears I'm the only one. I am anemic so my doctor put me on iron and it does help, but I didn't tolerate it well. If you have iron deficiency anemia it may not have shown up on your bloodwork if it wasn't "that" time of month. Try adding or increasing iron rich foods in your diet like poultry, eggs and spinach. Also get a heated massager for your chair at work. My company did not allow the space heaters either, but did not mind the chair pads. I saw a pretty inexpensive one by Conair on Amazon http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41jWSz6I5WL._SS400_...

I used to work with a lady like this. She would wear bulky coats in 80 degree weather. She said it was because she had really high metabolism, which was why she was also very thin. There might be something to that...my husband has super high metabolism and has a hard time keeping weight on, he doesn't do well in cold either. :)

I used to always be cold...my husband told me it was because I did not have enogh iron in my diet. I started taking vitamins plus iron (I like Flinstones) and increase my meat consumption. Now I am usually the warm one!

So ironic that I would read this post today. I sit here Freezing as I type. It's like 67 in the house (yes, I'm ready to turn on the heat and have it be at least 75 in here).

Iron, never heard of that trick before, but it might be worth trying. I just assume I"m related to the lizards. If it's cold, I'm cold, if it's hot, I'm hot! I haven't figured out what I can do to keep warm.

All I know is winter trips from IL to KS are a pain. I'm under a blanket and need the heat on. My husband doesn't have a blanket and is roasting. Always interesting.

My dad is very thin (like almost no body fat) and is always freezing in the winter. He wears long underware under his clothes and wool socks and that seems to help him.

I'm the opposite--always sweaty, so I can't wait for fall :)

Does your office allow small space heaters?

I used to be the cold one in our office. Because there were some people that were always hot, they kept it cooler in the office with the idea that you could always put MORE clothing on, but not LESS. These women would sit at their cubes in short-sleeved dresses and sweat, and I'd be freezing.

In the offices where I could not have a heater I used an electric blanket. They make electric "throw" blankets and they were allowed (or at least I never asked but no one ever said anything). I also typed with fingerless gloves.

I also would wear furry boots. I bought furry slipper boots and kept them under my desk. The kind you could walk around in. I'd slip my feet in them under my desk and then switch to my shoes if I needed to go to a meeting.

I also became a serial hot tea drinker! I got one of those USB drink warmers. You plug it into your computer's USB port and you can set your mug on it and it keeps your drink warm.

Getting up and walking around every so often gets the blood moving. I totally sympathize with you though. They called me the tiny cocoon girl :)

i was the same way at work. my finger would get so cold, i could hardly type. try getting some lightweight fleece gloves and cut the finger tips off (fleece doesn't fray). i also had a small space heater in my office. i put it right behind my desk and kept my door closed. it worked really well! you might even try keeping a throw blanket at your desk. or, ask around and see if everyone is cold, then maybe you could bump the heat up a few degrees. everyone i worked with was overweight, and were never cold, so i was outnumbered.

I'm always cold too, (also with a husband who is like a furnace). No space heaters allowed at my office either bc of fire codes. I sometimes find it hard to type at my normal speed when my hands get too cold so I keep a pair of those really cheap stretchy gloves handy. They are too thin to keep me warm outside, but they are thin enough that I can type naturally in them without having to cut the fingers off. It doesn't seem like they would be until you try it. Makes a huge difference to have toasty hands. And I am soooo going to try sitting on a heating pad as was suggested below, in addition to my lap blanket. Thanks for the tip!

How about getting a heated blanket. Wear warmer socks, that always seems to help me, wool socks. Could wear long underwear. I know that where my cousin worked they gave her a snuggie (large weraable blanket) because she was always cold during the winter.

Also if you know your boss well enough ask if the temp can be set higher (like 68 or 70!). An employer should want the employee to work in a comfortable temperature.

Start fashioning a hat. We all know majority of our body heat goes out our head. You could also store a portable heater under your desk, that is what I did when I lived in MN for a number of years.

Are you wearing real socks? They make a huge difference and since you are wearing pants you can probably get away with them. It's harder to get away with the little fingerless gloves unless you are trying to send management a message.

In the winter I put a space heater at my desk...that does the trick! Offices are normally either too hot or too cold, and I'd rather it be too cold than too hot...but that's just me :).
