Hi Mamapedians! I'm looking for feedback from Parents who have taken their kids to the "Dora & Diego’s 4-D Adventure: Catch that Robot Butterfly!" movie experience at the Shedd Aquarium.

The Shedd advises against taking a child under age 5, due to all the 4th demension surprises during the experience. If you've taken young children...would you agree or disagree with this recommendation? My 4 year old absolutely loves Deigo and doesn't have a problem with 3D movies...but I don't want to freak him out if this is too much. I would really like to hear from Moms who have been through the experience and can give me some more feedback about it. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We skipped it -- my son has some sensory issues and I don't think he would have been comfortable. THANK YOU for helping me out! (A special thanks to the poster who mentioned the "Bug's Life" 4-D experience. I would rather be buried alive than feel like bugs were crawling under my seat! I'll be sure to avoid that one!)

We thought we were going to see that one last month at at diff aquarium but we ended up seeing one Pole to Pole maybe it was more nat geographic than animated.

The kids loved the snow machine, were ok with the wind blowing, Loved the water squirting, but I about had a heart attack during the shark attack when something poked the back of my seat. Mostly i was scared someone was hurting my daughter weird I know, but that's what my brain was telling me. Hubby never felt it. it was followed by some cute polar bears and some bubbles. so it ended happy.

If your kids don't startle easy you should be fine, I would warn him ahead of time that he will feel things blowing on him, and might get squirted. SIt on an aisle on the left hand side opposite were you entered, and just leave if you have to. LIke someone said it's only 15 mins.

Hello Mom LK.
We went last month and my 6 yr old loved it, my 3 yr old...not so much but she is scared of everything....I would think if he can handle the 3D, he would be just fine. It lasts about 15 minutes and you can always leave if he gets scared. FYI they sometimes have a face painter in the rainforest too, so make sure you have $5 cash on you she is great!

We went to some shows at Disney World. One of them had squirting water (like squirt guns - really soft), apple pie smell and popcorn smell and another was "Bugs Life" which had bumps in the seats to feel like bugs crawling under your butts.

Are those example of 4D? If so, our the 16 month old was ok with it, and his then 2 1/2 year old cousin was as well. Maybe some kids wouldn't be, but ours were fine.

We can't wait to go to the Shedd Aquarium! Probably go next summer.
