Hi! Last week Ben (16) was baptised and we unfortunately missed it. This week my daugher's friend (16) and Ben are being confirmed.I was planning on buying Ben "Left to Tell" as a baptism gift but dh says we don't need gifts at all. So, do I need a baptism gift? Do I need confirmation gifts? Ben is Sarah's best friend (not boyfriend) and Arianna is Sarah's best girl friend, it's complicated, they aren't nearly as close as they used to be when they were younger. Any ideas on gifts if I need to? Thanks!!!
Need, no. But, if you want to, yes. Gifts are never a "requirement", but it is a nice little token.
I always give a check in these circumstances. I assume the grandmas and parents and godparents etc have all those sentimental gifts under control (like a cross you hang on the wall, or bible or some other religious oriented thing that will end up in a box in the basement).
Seriously, at 16, they will be happily counting their checks and buying something they've been wanting or putting it towards college or something like that.
just brouse a christian book store there are lots of things to choose from. if you are thinking about giving a gift then you should.
Maybe this is me being a bit holy but if they take their faith even sort of seriously a cross is the perfect gift.
I have this little gold cross from my godfather that I will always love even though I cannot wear it anymore. That was my communion gift.
At least in my opinion you can't go wrong with a gold cross.
Personally, I'd get them each a card, write a thoughtful note and include a gift card, savings bond (do those still exist?) or something. If you want something specific to the event, a rosary is nice, but really a card will be plenty.
How about a religious themed photo frame...check family christian bookstores too for ideas.
