Easy Bake Oven!!! I did the happy dance all the way to the trash can with it. I hated that messy little thing. Oh and the awful tasting cakes!
Legos are by far one of the best as well as the little push strollers.
What toy do you regret buying your child and why?
I realized, after cleaning out my baby's toy bins, I get suckered into the marketing. =)
I'll go first:
Worst toy we bought (so far) was a ball popper. It was loud, not just the music, but the fan that blows out the air to "pop" the balls. She was afraid of it as first because the balls didn't stay on the toy, they popped out 6 feet away. Not to mention if you didn't put all of them back the thing would barely work. She's not afraid of it anymore, but we never got that much use out of it.
ADDED: You guys have me cracking up! Keep them coming!
I understand the concept of the ball popper, and im not lazy, I will go get the balls. Problem is, they get lost, then the thing doesn't work! We recently found two of them shoved in the recliner! Plus my daughter would rather shove her baby bottles and other small toys in there. LOL, it just didn't work that great for us.
BTW...is moon sand the same as aqua sand?

Anything that has batteries but no off switch.
Oh yeah and we had this rabbit thing that his ears hung over it's eyes and when you squeezed it the ears would go up and it'd say " peek a boo I see you" It went all demon possessed on me one night at 2 am I hear " peek a boo I see you, peek a boo I see you" like 5x in a row. I promptly took it outside and put it in the trash.
Worst toy ever: Screaming monkey.
Enough said.
LOL! This is a great question. I have to say ALL of the toys that took batteries :)
Moon sand. What a bummer that was!! It gets ALL OVER, in your carpet, in your place mats. It never builds what it says it's going to build. Waste of money BY FAR!
A close 2nd - That would be remote control cars. Bleh. My kids have so many of them and they hated the control part so they would tear out the remote part and just play with the car.
Remote control anything - they never use them! Most of the toys with batteries they end up playing with more once the batteries die so they can do it themselves. We're trying to learn our lesson this Christmas!!
Best toy we ever bought - that I didn't really even think the 5 year old was ready for but hubby insisted - Legos. The little ones. He plays with them ALL the time and it's good, creative play. Best one for the 3 year old - GeoTrax. They are awesome during long winter days! (It's our battery/remote control exception!)
We love the ball popper! Lol. The worst toy so far was zhu zhu pets! I hate those things! Oh, and also the Alphabet pal caterpillar. So loud and obnoxious!
We love the ball popper too, but yes it has it's annoyances. The balls get lost and I had to order more from the website, which was pretty cheap or else I wouldn't have done it! Also we've had to take it apart several times to retrieve stuck trains and cars. We keep it locked in the "project closet" with all kinds of toys with little pieces or annoying sounds, only to be used under supervision LOL!
The worst toy for us was the Elefun-butterfly catching game. I wish I'd read the reviews before buying it because the commercials make it sound like so much fun! Hardly any "butterflies" come out, most get stuck, and the ones that do don't go high enough to catch in the net. That game didn't last long!
Play Dough Icecream Parlor. What a piece of junk. The playdough gets stuff all over in it, it's hard for kids to operate, and makes a total mess... and I'm not a Mom that usually minds terrible messes. I didn't even try to give the thing away, I tossed it in the garbage.
Moon Sand is NOT the same as Aqua Sand, but equally messy and lame. But I guess it depends on your goal. My kids liked playing with both of these products for a couple of hours, but once they are done, you pretty much have to toss it. AND, do it OUTSIDE.
Incidentally, my kids love the ball popper. But it's high on a shelf and only comes out while I can supervise. They had a blast stuffing feathers in there once. Total mess, but it was worth it.
I second the ball popper as the worst toy! HATE it. It's noisy, we're constantly chasing after/losing balls, and things are always getting stuck in the popper.
I also really dislike the books with the buttons that make noise. And any battery-operated train.
While we're on the subject of noise, WHY does almost every battery-operated toy have to announce it's powering down with a loud "BYE-BYE!"? I can't count how many times my son would have moved on from an annoying toy if that "BYE-BYE" hadn't reminded him that he was playing with it a few minutes before. I want them to just quietly turn off and slink off to the periphery of his awareness, is that too much to ask?? :)
That's too funny -one of the BEST toys we've ever bought is the ball popper! Both of my sons, especially the first have loved it! I think our sit-n-spin is a loser. I thought they would love it, but neither of them care about it at all. Sometimes kids who come over like it, but it's headed to GoodWill soon!
razor scooter. i never let them ride it because it scares me to death. i don't know why i got it. my kids call it 'don't touch it toy.'
now i know i won't be getting them rollerblades either :)
My sons loved the ball popper!
Worst toy ever...Bop-Its...they are fun at first, now they are just loud and annoying..."twist it, bop it, flick it...AHHHH"!!
I know there is a million more...just cant think of them right now:)
We have a busy ball popper we all like it,it encourages physical activity as for parents get up & get them as for toddler it helps with the coordnation crawling, stooping, picking up,sitting down, placing ball in the proper place :)
Let me see what toys don't I like that I bought marble track it only can be used with marbles that came with the toy nothing else..A Backyardigans juke box that has a mic it is too loud the kids love it but after a certain amount of time I have to tell them to shut it off (no I didn't gift from Chritmas)ZHU ZHU pet another opened unplayed with received gift.
Not sure what toy was the worst, but we got TONS of use out of the ball popper! My two year old has played with it for at least a year and my five year old enjoyed it just as much during that time...it gets a big thumbs up from us!
-M
that elmo doll that when u shake it, it talks and repeats itself the more u shake it!
With all the noisy toys my 22 month dd has, only one really annoyed me. It was this frog that whenever you move it, it senses it and ribbits...an annoying mechanical ribbit. Shudder. It is the only one that really got to me. I even don't mind my dd's growing collection of dancing/singing animals. LOL.
Best toys...wooden blocks and Check up Elmo - got him for $1 at a yard sale...he retails at $80 :-)
The Fisher Price Splatster. It looked like such a cool toy. My kids were so excited to get it and use it. They have never been able to get it to work. It was a pricey toy and a waste of money!!
The second Cabbage patch doll. she didn't realy play with the first one. J.
All the toys so far that we've regreted all took batteries. There are a few here and there that ended up being good but not a lot of them. We try to avoid batteries whenever we can ;)
But I think the Leapfrog Didj was one of the worst! We had gotten them many of the systems before that one including the Leapster and they got a lot of good out of them but that Didj....DANG!..I have no idea how they went so wrong with it. It ends up on time out more than it gets to be used and I'm ready to take a sledge hammer to it.
Zhu Zhu Pets - what a waste of money!
Any track or accessory for hot wheel cars. They get one use and then lost or never used again.
Any game with LOTS of pieces. One piece always goes missing and it's always the one piece you must have!
The Fly Pen.
Best money spent - Razor Scooters - my kids have gotten YEARS of use out of those things! A wave board for my son. Plus Barbies and Legos.
