hi there...i've got a bachlorette party coming up and was wondering what to give as a gift - if any is necessary?? i would like to keep it small and don't want anything embarrasing (for me or her) because i don't know her very well...it's my future sister-in law...
money is tight and i went to 2 showers and gave gifts both times, have a tux to rent, flower girl dress to buy, hotel and of course wedding gift so i'm not sure another gift is necessary...but don't want to be the only one w/o a gift!!
for one wedding shower we gave wine glasses and some wines so i can't repeat w/ a bottle of wine...just out of ideas! please help! thanks!
Victoria Secrets as well as Macy's has GREAT sales on nighties. Like $10!!! I would highly recommend picking up a nightie. The pamper basket is a good idea or something from bath and body works.

I know how you feel about the number of gifts! I just did this too and it gets very expensive! However, I would take a small gift. Try some bath and body works nice smelling lotions and/or some nice smelling candles to help "set the mood." This would be cheaper and easier than underwear/nighties/etc... yet still relate to a bachlorette party. You could even give her a gift certificate for a pedicure or something of the like, or a homemade gift certificate for something you could do for her, like nails or make a romantic dinner, or whatever you feel comfortable with. A pamper basket is a great idea. I believe Bath and Body works has some massage oils and plenty of other aromatherapy and lotions that you could put your own basket together that would have great wedding night or honeymoon items.
For my bachelorette party, I enjoyed getting some comfy but cute pajamas too instead of the lingerie type. You could probably find something cute at Target or something like that. A nice silk robe would be nice too.

A gift is not necessary, just make sure she doesn't pay for anything throughout the night (dinner, drinks, etc.). Have fun!
From my experience it depends on the group. I have been to some where everyone brought a gift and some where no one brought a gift. In the past when I havent wanted to spend alot but wanted to bring a little something I went and bought some panties. Just 2 or 3 pair of cute ones. Everyone needs panties right? LOL I have also seen people bring bubble bath and candles. This is kinda neutral because it can be used as a couple or just some pampering for the bride before the big day. Good luck and have fun!
I have NEVER heard of giving a gift at a bachelorette party. I wouln't take one. The whole point is to go out and have fun as a single person one last time. I would probably bUy the bride a couple of drinks at the most.
Yes you will want to bring a gift. Lingerie is an excellent one as everyone tends to be kinky at these parties. A good source is www.fredericksofhollywood.com Then click on clearance. Walmart has inexpensive pairs of cotton underwear with sayings on the bum like "cute" or "sexy". Nothing embarrasing or disgusting but bachelorette appropriate. and definitely inexpensive.
You can make a honeymoon kit with some basic items and a little creativity. You can put in some sunscreen if they go to a beach, a little bubble bath or massage oil, chocolates...get a dollar store basket and line it with tissue paper. If you google 'honeymoon kit' you can find more fun ideas.
tokeep it tack full how about a nightie or liqure for the party or a pamper box you know shower gel bath oil soaps nail polish and stuff like that
The wine glass charms are a good idea. I was thinking a sachet (sp?) for her drawers or closet. I wouldn't buy underwear or anything for my SIL...just my opinion. Candles are a good idea, too.
I don't believe that a gift is absolutely necessary. I think that you will find some who do and some who don't bring a gift. Don't feel pressured by it.
A gift is generally expected. I'd buy a pair of underwear...or a gift certificate to victoria's secret.
A. - if the two showers you went to were for the same person then NO, absolutely you do NOT need to buy her yet another gift. A gift may be expected but it is certainly not required. How many parties should one person have to celebrate the same thing and keep receiving gifts from the same people? If anyone asks, or notices that you don't have a gift (which would be terribly rude), just tell them that you bought gifts at the other two parties. Getting married is supposed to be about 2 people declaring their love for each other and deciding to spend the rest of their lives together - it is not about partying yourselves and your nearest and dearest into bankruptcy. If you still feel pressured to give a gift then how about you write a note in her card offering to take her to lunch after she is married.

How about a cute pair of pajamas? Or, you could put together a little basket for her honeymoon. Unlike some of the other responses, I have never been to a bachelorette party where there weren't gifts, so I'd definitely bring something.
I recieved the book "1001 ways to be romantic" by Gregory Godek, at my bachelorette party. I love it. It is in no way inappropriate, and has some really fun ideas. I've given it 2 times since then at bachelorette parties and it's been a hit. Like I said it is in no way inappropriate and would be perfect for a future family member. You can get it at most bookstores, but it's onsale on Amazon.com for $11.53 right now, usually about $17.
Gifts are expected. I gave this sensual cookbook once because I wanted to be a little more original and I didn't want to get her the normal underware or whatever.
