Hi fellow mommies! I was wondering if anyone knows of somewhere that I can get some decent condition, low priced baby items. My husband and I are expecting our second (SURPRISE!!) child in the spring. However, my husband was laid off from work 3 weeks ago. If anyone knows anything, or can help, please send me a message.
Thank you and God Bless

There is a yahoo group called freecycle where people post stuff to give away!!! they are not allowed to sell it on here but you would be suprised of some of the stuff that's on there. I got my son's new crib off there and it was literally used once!!! my co-worker got two chairs and a couch from there as well as two dressers..try that first and post a wanted ad. If all else fails there is always walmart they are pretty cheap that's where I always got my son's clothes..or if you know what you are having I have tons of baby boy clothes most of them my son never wore!!

Not sure where you are located, but I'm sure if you looked up children consignment shops you would found some great used items for low prices. There is Once Upon a Child in Westlake or Childrens Orchard in Medina off 303. There is one in Strongville, but I can't remember the name. If you would like, I can email you a listing of local PTA Kids Sales. You can always get greats there too. Tomorrow there is one at North Ridgville High School.

I shop at resale shops like Volunteers of America and Goodwill on occasion. Also, keep your ears peeled for mommies who get together and sell their used kid stuff. (I found out about it through a local magazine called Mimis in the Brunswick/hinckley/medina area. I don't know where you live, but at the Brunswick high school once or twice a year there is a bunch of mommies who rent tables and sell used kid stuff. I made out like a bandit last year!!!!

You can always go to Goodwill/Salvation Army stores. Also check out Kids Resale Shops. Another option is oftentimes Preschool groups will have used baby/kids clothes and stuff sales so keep an eye out for those. Usually they are held 2x a year, fall and spring. Most of the fall ones around here (Cleveland area) have already happened. Another alternative is local garage sales... though the cold is coming and garage sale season is ending too. There is also Craigslist.com. People sell all kids of things on there. The good thing about it is that it is local so transactions do not have to be made through the mail.
There are plenty of places to save money on kids clothes if you look around and are resourceful. I never pay full-price for kids clothes unless I cannot avoid it!!

Good luck,
L.

I would look for an online freecycle group in your region. Yahoo groups has a lot of different freecycle online groups. People post things they have to offer and people post for things they want. The whole idea is to prevent things from going into our landfills. I've got some great play items for my now 2 year old. People are truly generous out there and a freecycle site is where I'd start.

I do like children's orchard as well but they could be kind of pricey for used items... I think your best bet is garage sales and sales at the carter's store. You'd be amazed what deals you can find at marshall's and gabriel brothers. Good luck and congrats:)

Hey H.,

First of all CONGRATULATIONS. I pray for a healthy pregnancy and child. Secondly, as a mother of four homeschooled blessings I go for freecycle.com. It's a yahoo group where people have extra things, clothes, household items, baby supplies, etc... anything they have and don't want to bother with holding a yard sale or throwing them away. There's a freecycle group for Lakewood, Parma, etc.. just go to your yahoo groups page and type in freecycle and follow the tabs to your town.. It's easy to join and you can get some great things as well as give your old stuff away to people who need it.
Good luck,
A.

Hi H.,

Look in the paper but diffrenct city's PTA's have children sales. They are wonderful! It's like an indoor garage sale with all kids/baby stuff! I don't know of any going on now but usually at the begining of the year.

There is some things I would not go for second hand, car seat for one. You just never know where it was before.

Have you ever tried free cycle? It is a yahoo group and you post what you need or people post what they want to get rid of, and it works really well. We have gotten rid of things from a couch tocomputer moniters to a drying rack. People post baby stuff all the time.

I don't know when you are due but if you can hold off till march. The olmsted falls PTA puts on a baby sale to raise money for the year. You can find some AWESOME stuff there. Everything from baby to school age, toys, clothes, yard toys. it's so awesome i can't even begin to tell you. So in the spring look online at the PTA websites to get the listing. If you can' wait that long look on craigslist they always have nice and cheap stuff posted.

Congrats to you about the new baby! It is a blessing!

I am not sure where you live, but there is a wonderful resale shop in North Ridgeville called Silly Sprouts. It is a kids resale shop exclusively. It is located 32668 Center Ridge Road, near Barton Road.
The website is www.freewebs.com/sillysprouts

Hope this helps! Things will work themselves out! Just Keep the Faith!

Good luck and God Bless!
