Does anyone have a recommendation for a baby sling? I did not use one with my first child but thinking I may want one for my second.
I want something comfortable and easy to get on.

Thanks

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your very helpful suggestions. A friend of mine has the Over the Shoulder Baby Holder. I'm going to give that a try first. Hopefully it will be successful! Baby is due next week!
Thanks again!

Try the Dr Sears sling. Easy to get on and off as well as adjust. I think the Moby Wraps are more comfortable but there is some skill involved in getting wrapped and getting the baby in.

Best of luck!

I love my Maya Wrap!! for Newborns and bigger babies. Easy to nurse, nap and just plain hang out in. Watch the videos, and its even better if you have a friend who know how to use it teach you how. it's a little tricky at first, but once ou get the hang of it, you don't know how to live without it! I found lots of willing moms to help me at La Leche League.

For older kids (toddler) I love my Mei Tei.

I second Jenn F - Ergo, Ergo, Ergo!!!
Pricey, but totally worth it for comfort as your baby gets heavier.

I have used many kinds of babywearing methods, but my favourites are a Rebozo sling and the European style wraparound carrier. These are both really simple because all you need is a long piece of cloth. For my Rebozo I just use a shawl tied at the shoulder, and for my wraparound, I bought some cloth at the fabric store. The only thing with the wraparound is that you need to learn the different wrapping methods (you can find videos online which are great demonstrations), but once you get the hang of it, its second nature.
I still comfortably use the Rebozo with my son who is 23 months old and weighs 27lbs.

I loved my Maya Wrap. As others have said, watch demos before you try it with baby and don't be discouraged if it takes 2 or 3 times for the baby to be comfortable.

I love my Moby wrap. There is a learning curve to getting it on but once you get the hang of it, it will be like 2nd skin!!

I have used many and I definitely use some more than others. I love the Kangaroo Korner slings, both the pouch and rings slings. They are a bit more expensive, but really good quality and they work really well. For a newborn, the Over the Shoulder Baby holder is essential. It is padded and the perfect size and shape for a newborn. I also used the Moby Wrap, which I find is better for older babies. It takes some getting used to though. My all around favorite is a good ring sling that is adjustable. I found a brand called Babyland on ebay for about 20 bucks. The Maya wrap is similar. There is also a woman on the seacoast that makes them. I think her business is called Gypsy Mama. My criteria for a sling is adjustable, comfortable, grows with the baby and definitely one you can nurse and rock to sleep in. If you are not used to wearing a sling, I suggest you start using it as soon as the baby is born, and use it often. If you are having trouble, you can also watch u-tube videos on how to wear certain slings. Before you know it, it will become an essential part of your daily routine. Good Luck and congrats.

P.,

I would recommend contacting Boston Baby Wearers. You can try different slings before buying one and get all the advice and help you need. It doesn't look like the website has been updated since the holidays began but you can email them and see when they will be meeting next. Hope this helps and good luck with the new one on the way.

a second vote for contacting the Boston Babywearers!

In-person help for fitting and arranging is almost essential for keeping you comfortable.

I had only a Maya wrap ring sling for my first, and that took us through 18 months. with #2 I started with a Moby wrap recommended by my lactation consultant, then visited the babywearers and borrowed a mei tai, and decided to make my own. That both my husband and I used through her 2nd year (she prefers the stroller, much to my chagrin). I never used my gauze wrap much, but I'm considering resurrecting the Maya wrap for when we go pick up her brother from school - she's getting too heavy for me to carry far in arms!
