What do you recommend for a good baby sling? We have a Borne carrier that we used for my son but I am wanting something that I can sling the baby in now and use until he gets much bigger.

There are so many babywearing options out there! I like both my pouch slings and my Ergo (which I still use especially with traveling with my 20 mo old, but the Ergos are good for up to about 45 lbs!). I plan on getting a wrap sling when I have my next one, but they were too complicated to use when I tried them with my first. Check out www.thebabywearer.com, it has all kinds of babywearing ideas and advice. I believe the only brick and mortar babywearing store in the Chicago area is Be By Baby in the Roscoe Village neighborhood.

I have to say I have never used just the sling but when shopping at IKEA this past Monday I saw a women with an infant in one & as she was walking all I could do is watch this baby's head bounde back & forth so be careful which one you buy try it out make sure the baby's head isn't wobbling around like a bobble head doll. (not saying that you wouldn't but apparently as I saw not all Moms check them out before use)

I love the slings/pouches from wallababy.com. Great customer service and they are handmade.

I'm looking for the same thing- a sling so I can carry my newborn, move just about any way to keep up with my toddler, and the baby won't budge. My friend just told me that Buy Buy Baby has "experts" in slings and have all of the products they carry available to try. They will fit you and even have a doll to try in the slings. I haven't checked it out yet, but I plan to in the near future!

wrap slings are the most versitile and comfortable (Storchenwiege and Didymos are the best, IMHO), but aren't super quick to get on and off. I relaly like the Kangaroo Korner adjustable fleece pouch for babies until they get too heavy for one-shoulder carries. Very easy to get on/off, perfect for newborns and older kids, etc. For bigger kids (heavier, and esp. once they can walk but get tired easily) I like Ergo baby carriers. They have an "infant insert" that I've never used, but without the insert your child needs to be 6 months old before he/she rides in it.

The Ergo is great for as the baby get heavier, but I didn't use the infant insert.
