Looking for ideas of locations to host a baby shower. Probably 30 people or so... but we want to keep down the expense. North Scottsdale/Phoenix area ideas?
How about in the courtyard area at Gainey Ranch? and then go to one of the restaurants? Or something up at Desert Ridge Mall area. I think there is a Paradise Bakery / Cafe up there. Or maybe Grimaldi's Pizza in N. Scottsdale off of Pima. They have a bigger area off to the side for parties. (they also have salads, etc). Or do it at someones house and bring in restaurant food or BBQ. That's all I can brainstorm right now.
The best baby shower I went to was held at My Girlfriend's Kitchen. For just a few dollars each, we made meals for the mom-to-be to put in her freezer for after the baby was born. We also had cake and played games, but the mom really appreciated the meals. My Girlfriend's Kitchen just merged with The Dinner Affaire, but there are a lot of similar businesses in the area where you make dinners to take home and freeze. The best meals I've had were from there or Entrees Made Easy (both in the valley). Check them out!

I love the idea of a baby shower at a Tea Room. Little tea sandwiches and desserts and of course, hot and cold tea. It is really sweet, I love the coziness and the intimacy. There are a few tea rooms in the North Phoenix area. Some restaurants have a private dining room or even a patio/courtyard... prices vary though. As a party planner my best advice is to keep it in a cozy and intimate setting. I would not recommend a park if you are having more than a few guests...it's a lot of work...you would want tents, tables, linens, chairs. You'd have to lug stuff back and forth. Keep food cold, hot,....what about restrooms, etc. Remember to keep the comfort of your guests in mind. You're the host so you will want to be able to manage the flow of the party and ensure everyone is having a great time, especially the Mom-to-be. Don't forget to enjoy the joyous occassion. Don't overwelh yourself with too many details.

We threw a shower for a friend of ours at a restaurant called Garcia's. We asked for a buffet style instead of individual plates and they did not charge us for the use of the room, only for the pans of food. Not only was it within our budget but it was memorable and we didn't have to clean up either. I'm sure if you look for other family restaurants they would probably do the same thing. Good Luck
I had my shower at Abby Gardens in Mesa - on Guadelupe and Dobson and it was very reasonable. I had about 20 people and everyone enjoyed it.

Not sure on locations but how about hiring a ramada at a park. I think you will just pay about 20 or 30 dollars depending on the park
