Hi all, my sister in law (Kali) is having a baby girl. Her due date is Aug 3, this is her first. Her DH (Will) has a daughter from a previous relationship her name is Isabella. Anyway, they think they have a first name picked out Kailah (usually spelled Kylah). My sister in law is named Kali Nicole. Her DH is William. So far they are thinking Kailah. Hobbs is the last name but need help on the middle name. Or any other K names. She is into unique names as well.

I said:

Kailah Jade Hobbs
Kailah Monroe Hobbs
Kailah Rielle Hobbs

which she likes but nothing has stuck! any ideas anyone???

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well thank you for those of you who answered the question! It some how turned into a how to pronounce or spell the name Kailah. No its not Hawaiian. And its usually spelled Kylah as in I know a few little girls with this name and thats how their families have spelled it, so I guess Kyla would also be another spelling of it. I have never met a Kyla spelled that way but it is nice. She changed the spelling to go along with her name, her name is Kali not Kelly so she has spent her whole life correcting people as well so I guess she is aware of what she is in for! I also have had my name pronounced wrong my whole life- and you just kind of deal.

Thanks again for those who have answered, I agree about the Rielle name too bad because its a nice name. I agree Jade is the best so far!!

I saw a cashier the other day with a name tag reading "Carter" which I though was unique and cute.

I also like Parker.

They're both strong and not common.

Not a fan of Kailah -- too contrived. She will have issues with mispronunciation her whole life!

The spelling is going to make it tough on her, but the name sounds pretty.

Monroe sounds odd and male.
Rielle sounds odd and only brings to mind John Edwards' baby mama. ick.

Of the three, the first is best.

So far I agree with everyone that I immediately thought the name was pronounced "Kay-lah" considering "when two vowels go a-walking, the first one does the talking." I know there are exceptions to that rule, but I just think in general that child's named will be mispronounced her whole life unless they rethink the spelling. A unique name is enough...I'm more for traditional spellings so people can really GET the unique name right! :)

I like the middle name Monroe...I think it's very neat. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I think giving a child the middle name "Rielle" is really an awful thought in light of current news. I don't think it fits very well with the first name, either.

But Monroe...that sounds very nice with Kailah (please...Kyla, Kila, something pronouncable!) :)

If I saw that on paper, I would pronounce it Kay-lah. However, is that doesn't concern you, that's not a big problem. When I hear Rielle, I think of that lady in the news right now. (Had a baby and affair with John Edwards. Bad mouthed his dead wife in her new book.) I like both the other options, but I think Jade would be my favorite.

Of those names, I like Kailah Jade. I really wish they would spell it Kyla though, or at least Kaila. The poor girl is going to go through life with a name no one can spell or pronounce.

Anyway, I think Monroe is a last name or else a boy's name (but really just a last name) and Kailah Rielle just looks weird to me since both are very strange spellings.

I think Jade is a very pretty name.

Honestly, if I were close to them, I'd suggest they reconsider the spelling, because I would pronounce that "Kay-lah" if I read it. Why not Kyla? As far as middle names, I'm terrible at that, but I like the name "Rayne". Kyla Rayne Hobbs. :)

I think most people will see Kailah and think "KAYLA" rather than "KYLA". So if they want to pronounce her name as "KYLA" I would suggest that spelling rather than Kailah.

For another K name, I like Kiera or Kyra...maybe Kyra Nicole.

Sometimes unique is just not a good idea. This child is going to get tired of the mispronunciation & misspelling of this particular name. Look at the name Mia; it's either a long "i" or long "e", but no one will ever get it right, it' just to "unique".

By looking at this, I thought it was pronounced "KA-LAH" not "KI-LAH". So there may be some confusion on this name. I have a daughter that I made up her name. She loves it but we do have to correct people until they know her. Good luck,

Is it kai - la or kay - la or kee - la? Actually, I think Kailah looks a bit like your sister's trying TOO hard to be unique - just my opinion, though. Some people like to make up names. ^_^

Also, stay away from Rielle. That is John Edwards' "other woman"s name, and no matter how you feel about Edwards, almost everyone agrees that she's a real piece of work. Not someone you would name your beloved baby after.

How about Willow? I think that's an interesting name.

ADDED: I see below that the name Kailah actually exists as a Hebrew name and is pronounce Kay-la, so now I'm particularly confused when you say it's normally spelled "Kyla." Kai is a traditional Japanese boys' name (rhymes with 'sigh'), but the female form of it is usually Umi or Mari.

Kailah is not a Hawaiian name.

This is what Kailah means:
http://www.babyzone.com/baby-names/baby-girl-names/meanin...
It is Hebrew.

The name Jade is nice. But it is popular here in my city. For example, in one grade level at my daughter's school, there were 3 Jades.

I don't care for Monroe or Rielle.

I like Rielle. I it supposed to be pronounced as Riley? I have a niece named that, so I'm partial. I also like Jade. Monroe sounds like more of a boys name in my mind. I know a man named that so that's why. haha

I read that as Kayla, not Kyla, there will more than likely be pronunciation issues with that spelling. That said, I also like it without the l. any middle name would work really, is there a family name they could use?

We named our daughter Corinne (which is the traditional French spelling, but I've also seen it spelled Karinne). The name your SIL chose is pretty, but I would spell it Kyla, as others have mentioned. A friend of mine has several children with K names: Kadence, Kassidy, and Kara (and my friend's name is Krystall). I met a little girl named Kendall, which I thought was cute. Another friend (named Kelli) has two daughters with K names: Kya and Kerri. So many K names to choose from out there!

For middle names, we have always used family names (older daughter has my maiden name for her middle name, and younger daughter has my mother's maiden name for her middle name).

Kyla Monroe or Kyla Jade.. or Kaila Monroe or Kaila Jade. The extra i's and h's just lose it for me anyways.

Kialah Rielle I'm sure sounds pretty, but I have no clue how to say it, I wouldn't want to burden my child with a lifetime of mispronunciations and mispellings....

I though Kayla at first too, but now I see. I've seen the name Kai before. I think maybe it's Hawaiian? Kailah sounds pretty. I like Kailah Jade best.
