I think my baby has eczema on his arms and legs. His arms have 2 red rough spots. almost perfect circles. My daughter had this too as a baby. He is 3 months old. Anyone know if its okay to put 1% hydrocortosone on him? I've been putting lotion to try to prevent it from getting this bad. He has an appointment in 2 weeks. So i'll ask dr about it then.
TIA

Aquaphor worked on my baby's eczema, and it also works wonders on any really dry skin. It's found OTC at any drugstore or even at the grocery store. Definitely try it before the hydrocortisone.

I used .5% hydrocortizone ointment twice a day and it cleared up. I was told that if .5% didn't work, I could try the 1%.

My pediatrician also told me to avoid all lotions and only use creams. I bought a small tube of Cetaphil cream and it helped. I also bathed him with Aveeno exzema bath wash.

The pediatrician prescribed 2% for our son when he was four months old and it worked wonders.

My ped recommended hydrocortizone for my baby at that age for eczema. I started with the 0.5%, which is labelled for sensitive skin. If he had a rash that didn't respond after a few days of the 0.5%, I would go up to the 1%. If you don't get results after a week or so, stop until you see the ped. I don't think you're supposed to use cortizone on babies chronically.

Get Aveeno's Eczema Care for Babies. There's a wash and lotion. I used the hydrocortizone on my daughter and it made hers worse. I used the Aveeno and it cleared up in a day.

My daughters Dr. said to put the lotion on after her bath and before you dry her off. I just get most of the excess water off and then put a bunch of lotion on her. She gets it all over her belly and back. This has worked great! Sometimes I use the lotion "extra healing" that I use on her. WORKS GREAT!
