Baby Carriers

Hi, I am wanting to find out what the best baby carriers are. I really want to "wear" my baby everywhere I go inside the house and outside. My husband already got one for him, but I want something that doesn't have material between me and the baby(I've been interested in the Baby Ergo possibly). I am also wanting to get a sling. The slings seem super simple to make, and was wondering if anyone knew of a pattern I could get my hands on to have my mom or MIL make. Any info would be great. We are just waiting and waiting for our little guy to arrive. I am currently 40weeks and 3days pregnant so help me. Thanks a million, and I love this site. It has been so helpful throughout my pregnancy, and hopefully now through being a real mom when the little guy makes his debut. COME OUT CALEB!

What can I do next?

I didn't make mine or have a pattern, but I have to say I LOVE my sling (it's a peanut shell) and that I would totally say skip the front carrier or go with a moby wrap style- it's better on the baby and more comfortable for you. They're easy to make, too- I have a distant relative who makes them, but I've never met her (my mom told me about it) so I can't hook you up.

I personally like the Moby style wrap. I have a 46lb 3 1/2 year old, and I'm pg. I only did it to test it out, but I *can* wear him in it, even at that size. Plus- if you buy the right kind of material, you can make 3 out of one strip of fabric.

Hi B.
Congrats on your family! The fun is just starting!

I have been an attachment parent since Day one- I wore my boy everywhere and I believe that is is exceptional because of our parenting choices. I used the BJorn sometimes but mostly used something I cannot think of the name right now! ARG! Maybe as I type-you might also check out Dr Sears website-the original literature on baby wearing came from him. When I started it I didn't know it had a name or anything like it until I had been co-sleeping and baby wearing for 6 months. But whatever you do do it will be what's best for you and your baby

I tried to look it up and it's not coming to me. I don't know if it was the BEST but it was the one I was recommended in my nursing class http://www.slingbaby.com/fabrics.htm ok I am not totally brain dead!

Wow-you are ready to have that baby-have you tried anyone who does massage to help Caleb out?
Congrats again!

I used the baby bjorn for my first two but with my third discovered the "moby wrap" (www.mobywrap.com) and my little one slept her first 4 months on my chest in that thing. I used it a lot longer than that but it was a sure fire way to get her to sleep those first 6 months or so and it didn't bother my back at all.

Congratulations and best wishes to you and your family.

Hi
I have a three week old (my first) and was looking for a sling carrier or something to help carry my baby cause I have a bum right hand. I got the Moby wrap and the "over the shoulder baby holder" and absolutely love them both. The Moby wrap is great to hold him close it just takes a second longer to put on. The Over the shoulder baby holder is really easy to slip on and off and is easy to take off with a sleeping baby in it. the Over the shoulder hangs on one shoulder, but has lots of padding. the moby evenly distributes the weight over both shoulders. Love them both! Get ready, when that baby comes it changes EVERYTHING! I never knew what people meant but now three weeks later, I am not the same person. He is the best thing I ever did! Best wishes!

Hi B.,

Congratulations! I'm thrilled for you and your husband. I have been in your shoes... it took us over two years to conceive our first. Good news is, only 3 months for our second. ;)
