I prefer Tate Marshall. Much depends on the last name and what you will actually call him (First or middle name). Love the name Tate!

I love Owen Marshall! Even though Tate is in my family too (it was my paternal grandmother's maiden name and my Dad's name is John Tate!) You can't go wrong with any of those choices you put down, so pick the one you like best :)

They are all great choices - you can't go wrong. I really like Owen Marshall. Owen was on my short list, too, but we went with something else. I was amazed by how many other responders picked the same one!

Your baby's name is the very first and most permanent gift you ever give your child and the hardest decisions it seems. We had two girls and had no problem coming up with names, however, when our son came along we had 12 names to pick through. we put all 12 names in a hat and the last one we picked was going to be our choice. We let our daughters help pick and what we came up with is Harley. This was great because it was the name I really wanted because our last name was Davison. I have a girl cousin named Tate and a boy in my son's class is named Tayden and we call him tater tot, which is cute but can't work forever(unless you're mom). Owen Marshall sounds very distinguished and important I love this one. Good Luck and God Bless you and your new baby.

I like Owen Marshall. I honestly think Tate would not be a great first name. It's cute for a little child, but I have a hard time thinking of a doctor, Senator or President with the first name of "Tate"!! Just doesn't seem like a name that would transition well into adulthood.

Good luck. Names are so hard. Now you have how many opinions to cloud your judgement..? Ugh, there is no easy way to work it out. Just say it over and over with your last name and see which one you like best. Here's a monkey wrench... I like Jonathan Tate. It seems to flow better to me than Tate Jonathan. I also like Marshall Owen better than Owen Marshall. But that's just me :) Good luck. What ever you pick will be great because once the little one has the name and you pick the actual name you call them by, it'll sound right.

You're gonna be more confused by everyone's opinion than you were before you asked! Ha! I'll give my two cents though. I like all the names. I especially like Tate as a middle name. Good luck! Just to let you know, we had a name for our daughter 6 months before she was born, then changed her name the day she was born to one we didn't even consider until we were on our way to the hospital to deliver! Ha!

Owen Marshall and Marshall Tate rolls off the tongue easier. Tate Jonathan does not. Tate seems more like a middle name. I prefer short names, so the child can learn to say it and write it much quicker. My son has a friend named Owen. He thinks it is a "cool" name.

I like Owen Marshall or Marshall Owen....but Owen might be better as a first name?? Jonathan Tate sounds better to me than Tate Jonathan....however, most people don't use their middle names at all (unless you just go by your middle name). My brother's name is Thomas Andrew and he goes by Andy - so that's always an option, too - just name him and use whatever name you want as the first name. I have a son named Johnathon - named by his bio-mom, but he has not come to any nicknames yet and it's sometimes tedious writing out Johnathon all the time.

My vote is for Owen Marshall. I think Tate sounds better as a middle name but that is simply my opinion. My husband and I have four little boys. We announced the names of our first three sons in advance but kept the name of our fourth son a secret until he was born. We didn't want unsolicited baby name advice and didn't want to hear any negative comments if people didn't like it! Ultimately, it's up to you! Good luck!

For whatever it's worth, I think when he is young he'll have an easier time introducing himself with Tate. Owen starts with a vowel and doesn't have a real "hard" consonant in it. Just a thought. Good luck!!

Instead of Tate Jonathan, my suggestion would be to turn it around... Jonathan Tate. I think it sounds better if Tate follows Jonathan. Wish you luck in deciding.

I like Owen Marshall and Tate Marshall better. I think Tate would be less common, if you're shooting for a unique name. Have you thought of using Marshall as a first name? Of course, you need to decide how any of them goes with your last name.

Owen Marshall rolls off the tongue, as does Marshall Tate. Perhaps Jonathan Marshall? It depends on the last name as well. Good luck! We had a hard time as well, and ended up with two of the great-grandfathers names.

You have many opinions at this point but I will add mine as well. Many have said that they have a child or know a child that gets cutsie nicknames from what the parents named him or her. We all know situations like that. Lord knows there are several in my husbands family that are just awful! I urge you to think of what could happen to your son as he starts to school. Pick and use the first name that will bring fewer versions of teasing.
Also there is no rule that says you cannot give your son a double middle name. For my favorite I would have to pick: Marshall as the first name and followed by any of the other middle names mentioned. Just be sure it flows with the last name. You wouldn't want something that doesn't flow when followed by CEO, PHD, or something or preceded by DR or MR President. Although my daughter had an Orthodontist who had the name Hoghuey. No lie! It was a family name and that is what the parents gave him. Imagine what ridicule he got.

Congratulations on your new venture in life.
