All the previous suggestions are so much better than my idea of putting it in the closet and pulling it out for company, so my vote is for any of the numerous replys below!
I am moving my 2 and a half month old baby into her crib within the next week and I wanted to know what you did with the comforter/quilt that came with the bedding set?

Hi J.,
My grandmother made each of my 3 children a precious baby quilt when they were born. I didn't want them to "destroy" it so I bought REALLY big clothes pins in the craft section of Michael's and I display them on their bedroom walls. It's like art :) The clothes pins are inexpensive and you could paint them to match the room's decor if you wanted to. I've gotten so many compliments (although I did steal the idea from another friend ) :)
They are also easy to install. Good Luck!
We hung it on the wall. Makes a great addition to the nursery decor. Some of them even have a place for a curtain rod to go through so that you have a way to hang it up. I wouldn't put it in the bed...it's dangerous.
we also hung ours on the wall...we have two boys and incorporated the hanging rod into the decor. one son had a fly-fishing theme so we used an antique fishing rod to hang his. the other son had vintage cowboy so i had an iron rod made with horseshoes on each end. great decoration for a large wall! have fun!
I bought star clips from Babys R Us and hung it on the wall above the bed. We paid enough for the bed set so we needed to enjoy it somehow.
I also hung the quilt up on the wall.
Our daughter's quilt had ribbons on it and tulle. I was not comfortable with putting it in her crib since I felt it was a chocking hazzard. But it was too pretty not to use, so we hung it on the wall. It looks beautiful!
I know they say don't put it in the crib, but I had it in their cribs under them, so the fitted sheet wouldn't be too cold for them in the winter. (Only until they started rolling over, that is.) And for tummy time in the living room. I never covered them up with it.
I bought quilt clips and hung my quilt on the wall in the baby's room. I think babies r us has the clips and I got mine at pottery barn kids.
Good Luck
We actually ended up getting a couple of decorative baby quilts (one that came with the bedding set and another one that my wonderful mother-in-law hand-made). We got some decorative clips that we used to hang one of the quilts up on the wall as wall art (we found the clips at Babies R Us, but I bet they would have something like that at Target as well). The other quilt we draped over the back of the recliner in the nursery to also add a decorative touch.
Here is a link to some quilt clips I found on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/102-###-###-####-###...
If that link doesn't work, just go to Amazon and search for "baby quilt wall hanger".
I hung the blanket on the wall as a decoration. You can get quilt clips or a quilt rack and it's very cute. When she got old enough to sleep with it, it became a favorite. She's still sleeping with it, and she's five!
I used a curtain rod or quilt holder on the wall that added to the decor of the room and hung it on the wall.
I honestly never used it ever... I hung it on the wall as a decoration. :) I just used the other little blankets I'd purchased that I liked better... it seemed a little too "dressy" to use as a blanket that was going to get spit up and peed on. :)
I hung the comforter on the wall above her bed...or anywhere you want. It make a cute wall decor!!!
I washed my kids, put it back in the zipper bag_actually now, I have them all in a Space Bag, but I plan on passing their layout on to their first born. If they want to use it for decor, or whatever that will be up to them then.
I never used the thick blanket that came with their layette set in the crib, I hung it as a wall hanging over their crib. That is a thought too. (if you are still using the same decor)
I just sewed in two loops of thread on each end (hardly noticeable) and then hung it on nails...
Good luck!
I didn't want to use mine on the wall because of all the other decorations I had up, but they are so cute and such a major part of the set... so I hung mine over the front of the crib, folded it over, and safety pinned it together - so that the entire design was facing out and could be seen, but it was not always falling off. Obviously this won't work one your child starts tugging on the quilt because I'd be nervous the pins could come undone. If I was sewer, I would have added snaps instead of pins.
Put it down on the floor for her to play on!
I would use it for "tummy time" in case your baby spits up...I made my bedding and made the quilt and honestly, we never use it for anything other than a blanket for the floor or outside when the weather's nice:)
I draped them over the front of the crib just as a decoration.
I hung it on the wall over the bed as part of the room decor.
We hung ours on the wall too!!
I had seen several friends and relatives hang the quilt on the wall as a decoration, so that's what I did. Unless you have the baby's room already decorated and there isn't room for it, the quilt on the wall looks cute. I don't have the crib in the baby's room (actually even my 2 yr. olds toddler bed is in my room, too!) so it kind of helps decorate that little area. If it's going to be on the wall near or behind the crib, just make sure it's well secured. Also, move it when the baby begins to stand up in the crib.
