Baby Announcements…when Is It Too Late to Send?

I had baby boy #2 at the end of March. Life just took over and I got WAAAY behind and due to some of health issues he had, never got around to do baby pictures and baby announcements. May sound silly but I feel awful about it. We just took family pictures for Christmas cards so I FINALLY got some professional pictures of him. I was thinking about doing a double-sided Christmas card…family picture with a Christmas message on one side and the on the other side do a baby announcement and say something like…”Our most exciting blessing of the year…”
Is 9 months way after the fact to try to do a baby announcement??

What can I do next?

I had the same problem with the 2nd one. I sent the announcement out 5 months late.

I used a little desktop publishing, and created a phony newsletter that was from the SCSS...The Second Child Syndrome Society. The newsletter had mini articles about our newborn. A feature on his birth. A snippet about his favorite things. A list of his milestones. You get the idea. I even mocked up a phony logo and imprinted it on the newsletter and the envelope. I told the recipeints that the SCSS existed to ensure that non-first borns get the same kind of care -- In this case, to make sure they don't get ganked out of a birth announcement just cuz mom and dad are tired. It was a hoot.

Well, we're planning on something similar--I graduated in June, we moved cross-country, and got new jobs--oh and we're suppose to have a baby soon (due today!). So we're sending out one all purpose--Hi, we probably should have told you earlier but I graduated, moved, got a job, oh and had a baby--Happy Holidays! I think anyone who has had a baby will completely and utterly understand!

Oh I think that is a fantastic idea! I would say in this day and age, you can do birth announcements up to one yr! I did mine about 4 months out, and your idea is wonderful, I am sure everyone getting your card would be delighted!

I actually have designs and done cards for a couple of people with birth announcements on one side and Christmas cards on the other, it is very common.

I don't think you are too late, just go for it :)

I would say you have even until the child turns 1.

I can't picture a double sided xmas card but if it looks ok to you go for it. I can definately see a whole paragraph about baby in a christmas newsletter or somethign like that or even a card with three pictson the front, like whole family, all kids and just baby.

No way:) I love your idea of a double sided announcement/Christmas card.
Honestly, up to a year is announcing in my mind if bulk of friends and family live far away or don't see you very often.
Plus, #2 needs a little something to look back on in the baby things to have marking their arrival.
