My son had acne from birth to about 4 months. I used cetaphil at 4 months because it seemed not to be clearing on it's own, and the cetaphil really worked. It's a mild hypo-allergenic cleanser.
My 5 week old is red-headed and has fair skin. She is also very hot natured. Anyway, she is getting baby acne, little red bumps on her face. Does any one have any tips to prevention and/or reducing visability?

My son also had pretty bad baby acne when he was that age. I think that is normal, and it should go away on its own in a few weeks. I don't believe that there is anything recommended to put on your baby's skin to diminish the appearance of acne.
If you are overly concerned, I would call your pediatrician.
By the way...I highly recommend the book "Baby 411"...we found it to be extremely resourceful, probably one of the best baby resource guides we've used.
Good luck!
When my baby boy was around 6 weeks old, he had little red bumps until he was 7 months old. The dermatologist wanted to put a medicated ointment on him, but I didn't want him exposed to that kind of treatment so early. It eventually went away. Now I know about a cream that could help your baby, which I was not fortunate to know about. It's called Ambroderm, an all natural lotion. You can look it up at www.Mannatech.com If you would like to order some to try, please email me. Whatever you decide, I hope a natural one will do the job.
God Bless,

When my son was about 4 weeks old, he also had horrible baby acne. He is fair skinned and blond headed, so I know how horrible it can look! It is basically a response to your hormones leaving the baby's body. There is nothing you can do about it. It will go away with time. Don't try to cover it up or wash the baby's face too much or you will make it worse.
Don't worry, both my beautiful daughters got baby acne at 5 weeks and now they have perfect skin. Don't do anything special, just keep her face clean like normal....believe me, there is nothing you can do....it just goes away by itself. It takes about 2 weeks. And, both of my daughters had it BAD! really, don't worry.
Baby acne is totally normal at this age. I know it's not pretty, but it's totally normal. Please, please don't put anything on it to try to cover it up.
Wash your baby's face with warm water more often.
Hi, my baby does the same thing and started around the same time as your baby and still has the problem when he gets hot. He is hot natured too. I have had luck with Johnson's soothing naturals soothe & protect balm. It comes in a box and it looks like a miniature thing of deoderant. It smells good too. I hope this helps.

ditto on what others are saying. It's normal. My son had it. It goes away on its own.

Baby aveeno works very well. I used it on both of my children and it cleared right up.
All three of my children had it. It is totally normal and there is nothing to do about it. It will go away.
I'm a mother of a 13 week old lil boy. I had the same thing happen to my son, and as a matter of fact he still has more coming up. As my pedi doctor told me, it happens and will continue to happen. Usually from all of the kisses you give him. I was one of those overly concerned mothers so I asked the doctor what could I use because they are bright red bumps. She told me to use cortizone 10 cream (seeing that I believe that is WAY too strong for such a young child) I use AVEENO it's natural and it has no smell. It works perfectly for my little one. I still use it when he gets the occassionaly break outs. Doctor told me to use it only once a day and no longer than 3 days. Hope this helps.
Hi L.,
Have you heard of Arbonne? Their products are all herb and botanically based. They have an amazing line of baby products that are peditrician and dermatologist tested. Several people, even adults use the line for very sensitive skin and ezema. My daughter got a red rash on her face when she was teething because the corners of her mouth were always wet. The Dr. told me that it was normal and it would go away. Because I'm an Arbonne consultant I knew I could use the ABC Body Oil (even around her mouth-I knew it wouldn't hurt her) and it cleared right up. I received the baby line as a shower gift when I was pregnant with my daughter.....and won't use anything else! If you would like to try it or have any questions, feel free to contact me.

It's normal for babies that age. I think it has something to do with maternal hormones. But I thought baby acne was more white bumps than red. In case she is sensitive to something, you might try washing all of the family's laundry in Dreft or All baby. It might be something to ask your pedi about. Maybe it's eczema? You'd mentioned gas in a previous request. Maybe eliminating dairy would solve both problems?
Hi L.,
My son also had horrible baby acne, I did internet reasearch and used Aveno baby wash and aveno baby lotion. It was alot better within 24 hours and completly gone in 3 days. I washed his face and used the lotion 2 times a day.
R U using dreft??? And it might be cause your clothes are not washed with Dreft. So when your clothes rub her face it breaks her out!! My son was that way!! Hope that helps!!!!
