One of my twin girls had baby acne too. It will clear up on its own. I wouldn't scrub, rub or pick at it. I don't think there is any need to use an adult cleanser either.

There is nothing you can or should do. His skin is just clearing itself up. It will go away on its own.

When my 5 year old was an infant he had baby acne. I took him to the doctor and he said he was allergic to the kind of formula we were giving him. (He was only getting it in day care but I guess it was enough). Something about him not being able to process/digest the proteins. I'd talk to your doctor either next check up or take him in...

Our pediatrician recommended Cetaphil, it worked great. I didn't scrub at all, just a dab on my fingertips and worked it around my son's face and wiped gently with a washcloth to rinse it off during his bath. I didn't try the store brand, but it will probably work just as good. I also applied Aveeno baby lotion after.

My pediatrician just told me to make sure I get lots of pictures before he turns a month old, because there would be a good chance of baby acne for the first 6 months after that! His didn't last that long, but she was right, it came right around a month.

I was given a prescription cream for my daughter called Elocon and it worked in about 2 days. It is not good for long term use because it has steriod in it. You might give your pediatrician a call and ask about it or if there is something else they would suggest.

My son had baby acne when he was around that age. I took him to the doctor and she perscribed him so lotion but that didn't work so she perscribed him some cream that looks like vaseline and it cleared right up. I can't remember the name of it but I'm sure if you mention it to the doctor they'll know what your talking about.

If you are nursing, cut out as much sugar and dairy as possible, and load up on your Omega 3. You could even poke a capsule and squeeze it directly into his mouth just before he eats.

My now 14 year old had really bad baby acne, too. The doctor said it was hormone related and that it would pass in a few weeks and in the meantime to just wash and moisturize daily with gentle baby cleansers. I'm surprised by some of the other posts hear that said doctors would prescribe anything for newborns.

Definitely consult with your doctor. It may just be a hormone thing, but it could be allergy-related as well and require some changes in your or or baby's diet.

Our pediatrician said it's caused by hormones passed from mom to baby and that no treatment is necessary. He suggested we gently wash his face each night with baby soap. We would take a warm (not hot!) wash cloth and put a tiny dab of baby soap on it and wipe his face. Then wipe over his face again after rinsing the soap out of the rag. After our boy was about 8 weeks or so it all finally went away. Now looking back at all his baby pictures it wasn't as bad as we thought at the time and it was a cute phase just like everything else! :) Oh, and don't forget to watch to make sure the skin doesn't get too dry from washing each night...a bit of baby lotion should not prolong the acne.

My little girl had baby acne pretty bad as well at about the same time. My doctor said there wasn't anything that could treat it, but to keep either Eucerin or Aquaphor lotion on it. They said it should go away in a couple of weeks and it did. I know I got a ton of samples of both those lotions, and they really worked nicely. Good luck!

Ok, this is going to sound weird. But my doc told me to use selson blue twice a week. You put it on the head/hair and massage with a soft tooth brush. How it clears up the face, I dont know, but it worked for us

Try using Cetaphil (or Wal-mart's generic brand). Put a little on a washcloth and rub gently on the effected areas. Our pedi told us that with our first one. It doesn't clear up overnight, but it does reduce the redness pretty quickly. And, it's very safe for baby's skin - plus, it's great for your skin, too!

My last child had the worst baby acne I had ever seen. If you are breastfeeding, try putting breast milk on it. It started to clear the acne within one day and it was gone in 3-4 days. It would occasionally flair up after that, but just a few drops of breast milk on it would clear it immediately.

The only thing to do is when you are bathing him, make sure you wash his face with his baby soap. A lot of hospitals tell you to just use water, but that does not get their faces clean and therefore the baby acne. Baby soap is gentle enough to use on their faces. If you are concerned about using the soap, there are some out there for sensitive skin. Hope this helps. It just takes time. You may want to wipe down his face everyday even if you aren't giving him a bath every day.

My daughter had the same problem when she was a newborn. My best friend gave me what worked for her son, Kiehl's Baby cream & it almost completely cleared up in 24 hours. I was amazed! Since then I have also discovered the greatness of Aquaphor (from the grocery store)for everything from bumps on her skin to bad diaper rash. it is so gentle & very effective.
Hang in there- it will pass eventually no matter what route you take! Enjoy that sweet baby!

While it could just be hormones or toxins flushing out of his skin, it very well might be an allergy. You should consider changing your diet if you are breastfeeding or switching formula if not. Our little girl had issues when I ate dairy or onions. (It took a long time to figure that one out!)

You might also ask your ped. if it's eczema too. That's a high possibility depending on how it looks. We used Eucerine for our baby's eczema.

A lot of baby acne is actually an allergic reaction. My daughter had it really bad also when she was born, and since we knew our previous child had already had food allergies very on also, I asked the doc if my daughter's "baby acne" could possibily be an allergic reaction to the dairy I was eating (since I was nursing), and she kept saying to not jump to conclusions. Finally I just went cold turkey on the dairy and she cleared up within about 2 days. I'm not sure if you're nursing or not, but if so and if you're willing, you may want to try eleminating dairy (and possibly other high allergens) from your diet one at a time and see if they have an effect. Best wishes! I know how hard it is seeing the sweet baby's face all covered in "acne".

The best treament is consistently washing the face with soap and water. it is new skin reacting to milk left on face. Very normal... happened with my first. Noticed a significant improvement when introducing a routine washing after feedings. Good luck!

are you sure its acne? when my son was newly born, i thought he had baby acne and it turned out to be eczema... maybe try the ponds lotion with the blue lid. that and a prescription cream called elidel worked for us! when we thought he had acne we tried everything and nothing worked so if that is like your situation, maybe talk to your doctor about eczema

Actually yes there is something you can do. Our pediatrician said to put hydrocortozone cream on it. We did, and it went away in a couple of days. We just got a generic one that was clear, and it was fine.

There's not much you can do for baby acne. You just have to wait it out. When my son had it, most people said not to put anything on it. I would sometimes put a little California Baby lotion (this brand does not have alcohol in it...you'd be surprised how many do!) on it. I'm not sure it really helped, but it didn't make it worse. I felt it made it a little less dry.
