Hi ladies,
My husband is an absolutly wonderful, caring, loving,100%involved father. I want to do something really great for him this year. Money is an issue. This year there is not a lot of money to buy or do something really grand. I was hoping to get some great ideas from you guys. Something special, meaningful. Gift wise and also something special to do on the actual day. Thank you so much.

Hi C.,
My fiance's favorite gift ever is a couple years ago we made him a t-shirt. I bought a nice white t-shirt and some fabric paints. I wrote on the shirt "World's Greatest Daddy" and then my daughter made 2 hand prints and under that I wrote "Down" (World's Greatest Daddy Hands Down). He wore that shirt so much it turned into rags. He now has it folded and put away in a box of keepsakes.
My fiance and daughter both love the beach so this year we are going to take him to the beach and spend the whole day. I'm going to pack a picnic for us- all with food that my daughter and I will prepare together.
Good luck!

Hi C.!

You can have your kids make an ABC Dad book. Have your kids think of things they love about their Dad or activities they like doing with him. Find something that corresponds to each letter of the alphabet. Have them draw a picture or cut out pictures from magazines for each page and make a book. I just put the pages in a three ring binder because I'm not very crafty! But be sure to start this early - 26 pages takes time!

First of all give that Daddy a big hug! That is wonderful that he is involved as he is and caring! I see so many fathers that are not that I love hearing something positive!

What my daughter and I do every year- this will be his 3rd Fathers Day with her- is get a $3 frame from Walmart and print out 2-3 pictures and find a wonderful poem to put in there along with the pictures of them together. Every Fathers Day I get to make him cry! lol He loves the gift and has them proudly hung up throughout our house.... and even better is this year he thought to make one for me too! lol

A gift my son did was what another poster wrote about was the t-shirt! He liked that a lot but only wore it that Fathers Day and still has it in a keepsake box- somewhere!

As for something to do.... go to a park and pack a picnic! Keep it simple and stress free! Memories are not made with millions- they are made with love!

Blessings to you and yours!

Hi C.. Last year, I used www.Winkflash.com to create a photo book of pictures of him with each child, every month since they've been born. (I'm sure other photo sites offer these products too.) Even though it took me a really long time to find and upload my photos to the website and then arrange the book (hours and hours -- you just save as you go along), it was SO worth it! This is now something he will pass down to the kids someday. It's a blast to look at, it stores easily (it's just a book!) and isn't some tschotsky he'll have to worry about throwing away someday. I think the actual cost was around $15.

A couple of years ago for his birthday, I bought a pack of 10 x 13 art "canvases" at Michaels and some non-toxic paint. I think I bought Tempura but might have been regular craft paint. The kids each put a handprint on the board and I wrote Happy Birthday with a marker and then they wrote their names under their handprint. I still have to frame it but it had leaned against the wall on his dresser until I repainted the room last year. My girls each got their own art background to do as they wanted since it was a pack of 3. I think I spent maybe $20. If you go to Michaels' website and sign up, they send you a coupon for 40% off or so one item not on sale.

I haven't done much for this year except a photo mousepad ordered online through Walgreens for his office. I used 8 or 10 photos of just the two of them and it's really cute. It was $15 with the coupon code GIFT4POP.

Last year, I got a bike trailer (cost was $80 on Amazon, which is pretty reasonable for a trailer) and they went bike riding every day that was warm enough to do so. It's their father/daughter bonding thing.

In the past, I got a radio controlled model airplane they built and fly together.

good luck :)
