Is there a kid's bike with pedals that I can attach to my mountain bike and pull, but which can also function as a bike on its own once my son learns to ride a bike with pedals?
My son is almost 4. He is riding a tricylce now.
He has a small bike without pedals.
Thanks.

I've seen the trail-a-bikes, but no, not a full attachable bike.
Trail-a-bikes, by the way, are designed for older kids to learn how to 'be' in traffic with their trusted parent or adult leading the way. I plan on getting one when our son is already proficient on a bicycle. Kids need to know how to stay on a bike seat on their own, and not hop off at traffic stops. The seats are higher up than a trike (which is usually lower to the ground to prevent tip-overs).
I don't believe it's helpful for a child to be on a trail-a-bike until they are comfortable biking on the sidewalk, because it's a different way of riding. (There's no independent steering, for example.) However, learning to stop at every stop sign, learning to signal so as to be more predictable in traffic-- all of these are great things to model now.
And don't forget-- helmet on *every* time he's on the trike, even playing in the driveway. Serious accidents can happen, even there. *No helmet, no wheels* is the rule at our house. Develop those good habits now and be sure to model them for your son. I can't believe how many people I see-- kids and parents-- who ride without helmets. It's insane.
We had an Alleycat bike trailer for my daughter. Loved it! It is an attachment to an adult bike however where she could peddle. Just google alley cat bike trailers.
