A few suggestions:
NatraBio Allergy Relief tablets (1 a day; a homeopathic formula that dissolves quickly in the mouth) -- our pediatrician recommended these and after about a week I saw a difference. Family Health Market on Preston Road in Frisco carries these.
Xlear nose spray for kids (also at Family Health Market) it has an elephant on the front and we call it a "nose hose". A squirt up each nostril night and day followed by a few nose blows and it has made a *tremendous* difference. Also at Family Health Market.
Sambucus brand Elderberry Syrup (at Whole Foods; other health stores as well) -- comes in a raspberry flavor -- this is a powerful immune enhancer. I give my 5-year-old son 1 tsp a day for a while and then take a break of a few days. 2tsp. if necessary as we come into cold and flu season.
So those are a few relatively inexpensive solutions to get the ball rolling while you look for alternatives to her current level of medication. Are you working with a holistically oriented pediatrician? We see Dr. Bain and her assistant at Healthy Kids Pediatrics in Frisco.
I would also recommend: A HEPA air filter for her bedroom (try Sears for these).
Dr. Steve Homoky for NAET (my MD recommended NAET) he's in Plano).
Dr. Alex Bekker for Homeopathy (he's in Dallas).
Also, the book Super Immunity for Kids by Leo Galland has been helpful to us. Magnesium supplements (like Natural Calm, available at Whole Foods) along with cod liver oil/essential fatty acids have been very helpful. You could start to implement the supplements/Xlear, HEPA filter, and nutritional changes and then go from there.
