How can you tell the difference between asthma, panic attacks and plain allergies?

I started back in May with a running nose, and so on, along with feeling like I can't breath.(Kinda feeling like my chest is tight feeling, kinda coughing)My kids had the same syptoms but no breathing problems. Their doctor put my last child on allergie medicine(so now all 3 my kids have allergie issues and are medcine.) She said pollen became bad(it was near by our house). And that was the first time I felt like I can't breath. Anyway I started taking Clartin,a few days later all the symptoms got better along with my breathing.

Just last night I'm getting my "I can't breath spells again." I started taking Clartin again this morning, which I feel sometimes I can't breath but then notice I can breath. I don't think its panic attacks because I had them before and kinda know how they are. I wondering if its maybe some asthma starting in at my age? Or maybe I'm allergic to something that is breaking me out in breathing spells or maybe I should be on my allergie medcine like I'm supposed to be. I have a dr's app in a few weeks and was going to tell him about all this. I'm trying to figured rather it might be asthma or just some allergie issues. Who really knows.!!

You need to all be tested for allergies. That will give you a better idea if it is allergies or panic attacks. Ex-rays can determine if it is asthma also.

I have heard of adults developing asthma in addition to allergies as an adult, so it is possible you are developing asthma that is triggered by allergies. I've had asthma all my life, and it can be scary, especially if you don't have a rescue inhaler....I would recommend trying to go to the doctor sooner. Not being able to breath is a scary symptom, and I think you should go to the doctor as soon as possible to get it diagnosed. You don't want to mess around if it is asthma. I hope you start feeling better soon!

You cannot as a lay person. You need to see your doctor and get a proper diagnosis. If it is asthma it should be medicated and you need a rescue inhaler.
It could be a host of other things.
Since this is acute you should call you doctors office and ask if you can be seen earlier.

Not sure about all of it, but I can tell you that I have anxiety issues and my newest complaint is "gurgling" in my chest that makes me feel like my heart is being crazy. If I cough, a deep, deep cough, for some reason it helps. It's like a "reset" button.
It's weird, but if you have anxiety issues, they can crop up in all kinds of weird ways!

Go to your doc and get checked out...maybe even an allergist. If it is asthma they can hear it in your lungs and check you with a peak flow meter, and a few other tests.

Panic attacks are a surge of adrenaline that makes you feel like you can't breathe even though you really can breath fine once you stop hyperventilating. Google panic attacks, it will give you a list of symptoms and you have to have at least four of them all together to be a panic attack.

I am thinking allergy induced asthma...so get thee to your doctor!!
