Could it be M.C. Escher? That's who I think of when I think of illusions and paintings like what you're describing. You might look at google images of his art and see if one of them fits.
I saw a painting/poster a long time ago and am now trying to figure out who is the painter. It is an illusion painting where on the left side is the ocean, a tree in the middle and an elevator on the right. It seems like every time you look at the painting/poster you see something new. Does ANYONE have ANY ideas of who the painter is/was?
TIA
I searched Dali's gallery and did not find it. I have tried to google it and can not find it either.

Well... You sent me down a fun Internet rabbit hole :)
Started with the premise that if its a painting, then its probably "magical realism" or "tromp l'oeil"
Which takes you into Michael Parkes et al in magical realism... Or Escher in trompe l'oeil as probably 2 of the most famous (or at least the two that sprang to mind), and if it was a print, then you're most likely looking at über famous artists.
... While hoping desperately that it wasnt a motivational poster or advertising campaign about trading high rises.
Super fun.
So if you don't find a hit on here... Check out those 2 genres. Google has a half way decent image collection. I threw the breaks on my search when I started pulling up the interactive museum tours I used homeschooling. Or I'd never get to bed!
I was also going to suggest Dali. I'd google his name and elevator painting and see if you find it.
René Magritte? Try searching his works and see what comes up.
Let us know if you find your answer!
I have no idea which painting you're talking about - but as a wild guess --
Salvador Dali
Can you not look it up?
It's not Escher or Dali. My husband had this poster in his room as a teen, and I can remember it vividly. Perhaps his mother will remember who it is...but she's at work right now. If you don't figure it out and want to pm me, I'll call her later today and ask.
Magritte jumps to mind immediately. This is not a pipe.
ETA - Did you ever find out what it was? I'm very curious!
Magritte popped into my mind.
