Anyone Regret Getting a Bosch Dishwasher?

I'm thinking of getting a Bosch dishwasher (the one that rated #1 in Consumer Reports). I've heard a lot of good but know one person who hates hers because they are smaller inside (all that soundproofing takes up room) so of course that means running loads more often.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the feedback! We went yesterday and found that they are only one inch smaller in depth (same in other dimensions), but the tines are closer together so it'll hold more anyway! The sales person has been selling appliances for 27 years and said that's what he has in his home. Sold! It will be delivered next week! I feel great with all the replies from you.

All my experience with Bosch dishwasher has been very positive. I have had 2 different model and both are still working. One is 5 years old and another one is 2 years old. Bosch dishwashers are outstanding and I wouldn't recommend any other brand.

I have had my Bosch dishwasher for about 4 years and I love it!! It's so quiet. Mine does dry the dishes. We are a family of 3, but my teenage son eats like 2 people, and I don't find it too be small capacity. I haven't had any problems at all with it. I'd buy another one.

I dislike my Bosch dishwasher. First of all, it takes an experienced technician to install because the caps they need to use to finish the wires off need to be the right size or a fire will easily start. After we started smelling smoke, and figured out it was the dishwasher and callled a Bosch authorized technician, he said he had seen this problem often with this brand.

Second of all, it does not handle hard water well. I am figuring this is the problem. Even though we have lived in this area for 12 years and have had other types of dishwashers, this is the first time I am fighting a film over all my dishes.

The utensil holder in mine is difficult to use too.

The dishwasher came with our house that we bought three years ago. Just today, I was thinking, 'When can we replace this?'

I do like our Bosch, mainly because it is so quiet. We bought the warranty and had a problem with the motherboard within the warranty period. I don't think it was that major of a problem but the warranty company technician wasn't that experienced with Bosch (don't ask me why) and it took 3-4 appointments over about 2 months for it to be fixed. We have had a few other minor problems since it has been out of warranty (we've had it for about 9 yrs).

My husband, on the other hand, wouldn't buy another one. He's not a fan of the configuration and thinks it's smaller and, therefore, we have to run it more often. We'll see what happens when this one dies.

LOVE LOVE LOVE MINE! Got it about 2 mos ago when a 20 year old Kitchen Aid bit the dust. By the way -- I did some research when trying to choose between Bosch and Kitchen Aid and found reviews that Kitchen Aid's quality and customer service has gone way down since it was bought -- I believe by Whirlpool or something....just as FYI. My German nanny has a Bosch at home and said it was great so we ended up getting one. SOOO quiet, dishes are clean and perfect! We got the stainless steel interior as well -- more expensive but worth not having that heated plastic interior.

I will never get anything BUT a Bosch if I need another dishwasher. I had a top-of-the-line Kitchenaid for years, and it pooped out on me. I got a Bosch about 2 years ago. I LOVE it. No, they don't have heated drying. But the dishes dry anyway just fine. It's super quiet and cleans so well. Mine is bigger than my kitchenaid was inside, even with all the insulation. I seriously cannot hear it running at all, and I spend a lot of time in my kitchen so I really appreciate that feature.

My husband was district manager of an high end appliance store and never had anyone complain about the Bosch, only raves. The only other one that was just head and shoulders above the others was the Ariston. I don't they are importing those anymore.

WISH I had personal experience I could share!

We intended to purchase a Bosch... my husband went to Sears to buy one before x-mas. He came home having purchased the Kitchenaid, even though it was more expensive (the Bosch was on a super sale). We both decided that more space inside was more valuable than a 3 degree difference in sound, and I liked the utensil holder much better in the Kitchenaid.

I also was wary of the screen you have to clean on the bottom (since there is not a disposal to remove food waste). That's why it's quieter... no disposal noise. I thought that sounded like it could get stinky or gross if you missed cleaning it out.

And, I liked the control panel better on the Kitchenaid. So far I have been VERY happy with my new Kitchenaid... we also have harder water, and haven't had a problem.

Good luck!

Hi R.,

I have had a Bosch Dishwasher for the last 4 years and I haven't had any issues with it. Size wise, I am able to fit quite a bit of dishes in it. They only thing I wish is that it had buttons on the inside since I have 2 small children. Overall, highly recommended

I had one and I loved it. We had a great room so running the dishwasher would've been so annoying. I did have the top of the line, but we are a family of 7 and had no problems with it. I loved that I had to touch it sometimes just to know it was running. And it used less water which was good because we lived on a well.

The one I have now in my apartment, the neighbors know when I'm running it. I say go for it.

STOP! I got the one JD POWERS ranked 1st place. It rusted my silverware and everything was spotted. It does NOT have a heating element in it. It dries "naturally". You will totally regret it. I no longer trust Consumer Reports or JD Powers.
Sears let me return it when I told them about it. We have a Kenmore that is great.

It depends on how many and what kinds of dishes you do. I was talked out of the Bosch by the sales person because it would not hold the kinds and amt. of dishes we do. Who wants a sink full of dishes they have to hand wash because your cookie sheets and 9 x 13 pans won't fit without reconfiguring your washer AFTER you have loaded your washer to run...NOT me. I wanted to be able to load my washer till it was stuffed to the gills and have sparkly clean and dry dishes when it was done so went with the Kitchen Aid and LOVE IT!

We had one in our old house and I LOVED it!! I miss it so much! We bought a new house with top of the line appliances and I can't wait for our current dishwasher to die so we can get a Bosch!! I don't remember it being any smaller.

we do not have one but I have heard complaints from friends who do that it gets clogged with food b/c you are not suppose to have to rinse the dishes, but then the excess food clogs the washer. I still want one though

We bought one about 5 or 6 years ago and I adore it. Whenever it is time to replace this dishwasher I will be shopping for another Bosch. No regrets and no complaints from me.

We love ours, and really don't notice much difference with the amount of dishes we can put in they are just configured in a different way.
The only things I don't like are that it doesn't have a built in garbage disposal so you still need to scrape EVERYTHING off your dishes, and it doesn't have a dry mode, you have to pop the door open and let the dishes air dry.

Nope. No regrets. It is still whisper quiet (48 decibels) after 5 years. And my dishes are clean. :)
