My nephew has it...it's like you said, basically harmless but annoying. My sister and brother in law are considering nytrogen burning. That is supposed to stop it. Good luck
Yes, it's a long name but if you sound it out, it's pretty much what it is. Very contagious bumps that I like the call "mollusks" :) Long story short, a beloved little girl in my world (who is 5) has had these for almost a year and they are really spreading. It's horrid b/c in order to prevent all her friends from getting them, she has to dress to dress her in long pants and sleeves even in the hot summer! To top it off, the peds and doctors can't seem to provide any help. They tell us to "wait it out" which could be years. I'm hoping a few of you have heard of this and maybe have some advice for how to get rid of it! It doesn't hurt, not itchy, just a pain! Thank you very much!

Hi, my daughter who is 5 years old, had it in eariler this year. Yes it is contagious. Her doctor gave two options, first one is to waiting for it be gone which can be months or even years or get ice freezing on each bump. I wanted it to be freezing, so it would stop spreading. For 2 weeks, the bumps became dry and darker color skin. It came off after 2 weeks. She does not have it anymore. Hope my advice is helping you a little bit :-)
Wow, it sounds REALLY contagious... I would be scared of my kids getting it myself. Covering up seems the recommended thing. Although its said to be a "harmless" virus.. well, it can last MANY years... and until then condition is visually apparent. It seems to affect people with weakened immune systems. And yes, you wouldn't want her friends getting it... although understandably dressing up in long sleeves/pants isn't always preferred, but a medical necessity and a hygiene necessity per "public" exposure and infecting others.

Has the doctor tried any of the anti-viral meds, like they use for shingles? Would they work? Or is it too late in the infection?
