Anyone Had Any Luck Getting Urine Out of a Mattress??

Our mattress pad came undone on one side.... We used a pet urine odor spray called Urine Be Gone - in a black spray bottle in the "As Seen on TV" section and it works great!

I have used Scoe10x and it works wonders!

if you go online and get real oxi clean, it may bleach it, but it should work.

Haven't had the mattress problem, but had cat urine problems a lot! Odorzout is recommended by the Queen of Clean and it worked great for us. It's non-toxic, too. Supposedly, it even gets out skunk smell.

Mix a cup of oxyclean, the powder kind used with laundry, with water, 1/2 to 1 cup, and pour on your mattress, if you think it only went through the top couple layers of the mattress then don't use as much water and make it closer to a paste. Let it sit for at least 10 min., wipe off with plain water, let dry and vacuum any residue. There will be no smell left and no cover up smell from the cleaner. Oxyclean works great along with your detergent in the wash for kids clothes, also great for carpet where animals have urinated or more.
I did this many times with my mattress as my son had the same problem for awhile, a extra towel or leak proof mattress cover is good however the plastic under the cover made my son sweat at night.

Clean the mattress with a carpet and upholstery cleaner. (They have natural cleaners without the harsh chemical if you’re concern) Scrub with a soft cloth and then soak up any excess fluids with a dry towel. Let the mattress air dry. This may take about 24 hours, depending on how wet it was.
Spray the mattress with an odor remover spray. Be sure and cover the entire area and a little bit outside of it.
Let the mattress dry. Sprinkle baking soda on the mattress if it still smells. Let it sit for 24 hours and then vacuum it off

well we had a little luck, with taking and washing the materase in a solution of baking soda and dawn dish soap. the only other thing is to shampoo the matteras and let it air out for a day or two.

This is a governmental agency that tests the safety of household products.
A large majority of the products on the market today contain; Sodium Hydroxide, Butyl Cellosolve, Hydrochloric Acid, Lye, etc. These substances are known to cause breathing problems, skin irriations, linked to reproductive harm, and many more health issues. If, you use one of those ingredients to clean the mattress, you'll have the residual of those chemicals there for quite sometime, thus exposing your child's young sensitive systems to them.
Another Mamasource member and my customer who wrote a review on my business, regularly uses Shaklee's Nature Bright in her carpet cleaner to rid the pet urine smells from her carpet. She has a couple of older dogs and cats, that don't always make it outside.

I have gone thru this quite a bit as all of my kids have wet the bed until they were older (runs heavily in our family).
Zippered plastic mattress covers are what I use and when they rip on one side, I flip the mattress over and use the other side that is still good. IF the mattress smell really bad, I have taken it outside in the sunshine and sprayed it with the garden hose on concrete propped up. I would apply whatever disenfectant/deodarant cleaner full strength to the area that is the worst. I use Melalueca products, so I use Sol-U-MEl.
Let it air dry completely!! On hot summer days, a couple of days.

Surprisingly regular white vinegar works the best! I just used it this morning on my daughter's mattress and it took the stain and odor out completely. It is best to do when mattress is still wet, but will work after too. Try to soak up as much urine on a dry towel as you can. Then get a hand towel damp with water and pour some vinegar on it (the towel, not the mattress). Then rub the urine stain for a minute or so. It works better than any store bought chemical I've tried, and is the safest & cheapest too! You got to try it before spending money at the store. Good luck!

There is a product called urine b gone,worked on my sofa. Not sure about if it will saturate enough into the mattress. Worth a try...

I just did the urine out of the mattress routine. Only it was in MY mattress (my four year old wet MY bed a week or so ago!) So, as you can imagine, I was horrified because it was MY nice big comfy expensive mattress, and not the smaller cheaper ones the kids are sleeping on. I always have the product called Kids 'n Pets on hand for spit up on the carpet, milk spilled on the sofa, diaper leaks and other messes (my kids make more than my dog!). So I decided to try it out on my mattress. The pee was only a few hours old by the time I could get to cleaning it, but you would never even know it was there now. There's no stain, and there's no SMELL! That was the part I was most excited about. The stains would have been okay (she's stained it before with juice, a bloody nose and a leaky sippy of milk already) but I was not prepared to tolerate urine smell. I'm not even kidding, I pushed my nose right down into the pillow top where the urine was after the cleaning and drying. I could not smell ONE bit! So, whether the urine remnants are completely gone or not, at least it doesn't smell. One thing I did do, though: The bottle it comes in is a pop top one that you just kind of pour out the liquid on the spot. I've used this method on carpets and other things, but I didn't want to soak it into my mattress, so I put it in a spray bottle and thoroughly dampened the mattress rather than truly pouring it on. The website for the stuff says that usually a spray doesn't penetrate deep enough to really take care of stains and smells for good, but I just wasn't willing to pour it all in my bed. It worked great with the spray for that. Good luck! I hope you don't have to buy a new mattress. That's no fun.

If it is still wet spread baking soda over the stain. I have had to do this many times, and there is never a stain, unless I don't catch it in time. it takes the smell away too.
When our house flooded we sucked as much water out of the carpet as we could, and then it started to smell. I put baking soda on it left it over night then vacuumed it and the smell was sooo much better.

I have always had luck soaking a white rag in a mixture of vinegar and water and laying it on top of the mattress. For some reason it seems to pull the smell and the stain right out. You can also pat/scrub at it if it needs it.

borax. you can find it on the laundry aisle and it is super cheap. It is the main ingredient in most cleaning boosters (Like Oxyclean) sprinkle it on the mattress if the urnine is dry you will want to dampen the borax on the mattress and rub it in. then let it sit and vacuum it up once it is dry. I haven't had to repeat the process it worked great on my dd's mattress.

Try using a shampooer the one that has a hose on it. It might take a few times and a lot of drying time but at this point what do you have to lose? I figure if you can shampoo your furniture you can and I have shampooed the beds and for me it works.

The quickest, not cheapest, solution is to by a new mattress and pad. Since the urine is deep in the mattress' fabric, regular fabric sprays, such as Fabreeze, is not going to work. Maybe you could use a commercial fabic cleaner and steam machine (much like commercially cleaning carpet or furniture). You might could contact a company that specializes in cleaning furniture to see if they have any suggestions. Your local hospital or nursing home housekeeping staff may have suggestions also.
