I had a C section after a very long labor and I also nurse my baby still several times a night on my side. My pubic bone started hurting badly during pregnancy but then there was some relief. Now I have pelvic and tailbone pain with a vengence; it's aggravated when I'm sitting or on my side and when I walk. Who can I go to for the least invasive procedure for relief? Please share if you've had the same experience! Thank you.

What can I do next?

I broke my tailbone when my son was born 3 years ago--I was so, so painful. After suffering for 2 1/2 years I finally took the advice I had gotten on Mamapedia years earlier and sought Chiropractic care. I helped tremendously. I hesitate to say it "cured" me--but I have very, very little pain now which feels like a miracle. I am due to have a baby in a month and my biggest fear by far is re-injuring my tailbone again, but at least this time I will get myself to the Chiropractor ASAP!

Just throwing this out there--is it possible you're pregnant again? Or did you recently re-injure your tailbone? Otherwise, I'm not sure why the pain has returned all of a sudden.

Regardless, see your doctor and/or a chiropractor. Some people swear by chiropractors and others claim they are nothing but witch doctors, but you won't know if they can help you until you try!

I had a bruised tail bone from being pregnant with my son. I did yoga for a couple weeks at a local place and felt great almost immediately!

I needed to strength all the stretched out muscles so they could give my tail bone more support.

Check with your doctor, and make sure there isn't anything more serious going on. Then get moving.

I will warn you my son is 5 and my daughter is 10, and if I miss too many days at the gym, hard chairs, long car rides, can result in the pain coming back. It is my own little reminder to get moving!

Best of luck!

Ttry a chiropractor as they can do wonders. If your problem is something that can be helped by chiropractic care if may take a few visits. Try to find a good one by word of mouth tho and not just looking in the phone book. I have a great one in Pleasant Hill that I can vouch for, as many people can, but it's not as close to El Cerrito as you would probably like.

I had terrible pubic pain during both pregnancies. I saw Margaret Klein (office of Dr. Kenneth Lossing (D.O.) in San Rafael and she did wonders for my pain in two sessions. Nothing invasive and no chiropractic work.

Hi there,

Have you lost a lot of weight? I was always chubby, but lost a lot of weight while breastfeeding. So much so that my tailbone stuck out where I used to have a rather fat bottom! My husband would joke that I grew a tail... it was that pronounced. It was VERY painful to sit on hard chairs or for long periods because I didn't have the natural cushion to sit on. Long airplane flights were the worst.

Anyway, thought I'd mention my experience in case that's what's causing your pain. Hope you can get some relief soon!

I injured my tailbone when I was 8 mos pregnant. I got a lot of relief from chiropractic care. It's the first place I go for things like this.
