I love Kauai! Check out http://www.kauai-vacations-with-kids.com/
You'll find some personal (no ads) recommendations. Have a great time!
my favorite place on earth! have coffee at Java Kai in Hanalei, hike the powerline trail (relatively easy) or if you're more adventurous, the Kalalau trail. Helicopter tour is awesome. drive to Waimea Canyon and go to the Kalalau overlook. amazing views! shave ice from the truck on the way in to Hanalei. Tacos at the taco place (Tropical Taco) on the ocean side of the road into Hanalei. Chuck's Steakhouse is pretty good. Do the luau at the Princeville Hotel. Most of all, just enjoy the beauty and relax!
Mu husband and I went there last summer. I recommend Pedal n PAddle in Hanalei to rent snorkeling equipment for your stay. Get a good guide book and explore a new beach each day. If your in a condo stock up on breakfast, lunch food and pick up a cooler. We ate breakfast at "home", grabbed a smoothie on the way to the beach and brought lunch and drinks. We'd stop at Lampart's for ice cream after the beach, get a great cocktail to watch the sunset with and then shower for dinner out. Even the nicest restuarants arevery casual. Bubba's is good for burgers and Postcards is a perfect nice dinner out (both Hanalei). The "end of the road" hick at Ke'e beach is awesome. Hike to the beach and back. Secret beach is fun - keep walking to the left and you'll find tide pools and a fun swimming area - go to the right and it's a quiet sometimes nude beach. Have a great trip!!!
Go to Kauai's website.

Each Island of the State of Hawaii, has their own tourism website.
Kauai, is a very laid back island.
Locals refer to is as "the country."
It is not a 'city.' Nor a metropolis.
It is nice and full of nature things to do.
I have not gone there in a long time.
But it is restful and relaxing.
But I do recommend, per eating... please try the 'local' foods.
Not just staying in your comfort zone or just the 'tourist' stuff.
Hawaii, is known for VERY diverse and delicious foods.
And it is very, good.
Just do a Google Search for "good restaurants in Kauai."
If you are willing to travel around the island a little, you have to do the Kipu Ranch atv tour! So much fun! And if you are nervous about the atv's they also have the option of dune buggy type things for two or more people. We had a blast, got dirty and saw amazing views! There is no other way to see this part of the island. Do the shorter tour that costs less. I think it's two or three hours. The longer tour is not as good.
Enjoy! I love Kuaui!
We did a 3 hour roundtrip horse back ride over to a waterfall where we swam and had lunch.
So jealous! Kauai is such a family friendly island - you will love it! I found the best dinner & atmosphere at Tide Pools restaurant on the south shore in Poipu. Their swordfish is to die for.
Have a great time!
Favorite Restaurant was The BeachHouse in Poi'pu. Call way ahead to make a reservation for a sunset time and ask for outdoor seating. It's right on the water and so beautiful! Get Lappert's ice cream too, yummy! I think we ate it every day on our honeymoon!
