Any Mac Users with Feedback on Using a Mac And/or Their Scrapbooking Software?

I'm on my second MacBook Pro laptop and I really like it...however, software for Mac's are expensive and can be found only in select stores (more likely on the internet).
If you are not going to do real high tech artsy stuff like music and videos, I'd get a dell or equivalent. If you go to Best Buy or Frys you will see very little for Macs (if any software) because everything is geared for the other platform. Also, very little comes on the Mac in way of software. They are cheap when it comes to giving away software.

I have just printed two memory books through Walgreens.com, and LOVED them!!! They are hardback bound, the pages are thick and shiny just like a yearbook. Everyone who has seen them is amazed. Don't know if that helps you at all, but I've been telling everyone about it because I am so pleased with them and they are DONE! Not just sitting in a drawer with all the scrapbook supplies.

We just purchased the new iMac! I love it! It comes fully loaded with just about all you need except for Microsoft Office. My family has always had a Mac and a PC. Our PC, which was the kids, has crashed so many times due to viruses that I can not even keep count. We finally decided to give the kids my old Mac, a G4, and get me the new one. Nedless to say my kids think PC's are junk now after using the Mac. iLife and iPhoto are amazing! I bought mine at the Southlake Mac store but they are about to open up a store in University Park Village on University in Fort Worth. The great thing about buying the Mac from a Mac store is that the store offers tremendous support! (Macs are the same price no matter where you buy). I can go back to any Mac store on a weekly basis to take classes to learn anything and everything I need to know. If you go to the Mac website you will find lots of tutorials that are very helpful. There is a tutorial on iPhoto regarding photo albums, etc. Depending on how much manipulation you plan on doing to your photos you may need to purchase a program such as Photoshop. The possibilities are endless...scrapbooks, hard bound books, calendars, family websites....you will love it! Good Luck!

I am a graphic designer and love, love, love my Mac. It is so much faster and more intuitive than a PC. I have Photoshop as well as other layout programs, so I don't have any scrapbooking software, but you can find some in the Apple store and online.

Ok, I have an I Mac. Here is my take on the system. I moved from a PC that I had awesome photo imaging software - I could really manipulate photos - turn them into paintings, negatives, etc. Much more than what is offered with IPhoto 08. Everyone loves the IPhoto because it organizes your photos into easy to use events. Great organizing. Poor printing options and photo design is not great for someone who wants to do more than just print a 4x6. My advice - check out the software you want first. Go to an Apple store and ask questions. Adobe Photoshop works with Mac and I believe was designed for Mac.

Other than the reduced photo manipulating that comes standard with my Mac I love it. I guess I need to shell out the dough and buy photoshop in order to become super impressed.

You will love it!!! I have a mac Powerbook pro and I will NEVER use a PC again!
Even my husband, a former programmer, likes my mac more than his PC and really wants one.
I also have an iphone so photo/music syncing is very easy!
Most of the simple programs are already on the mac so you won't need anything much. I do have iWork and I plan on getting photoshop soon.
I don't scrapbook but I am sure it is easy!

I had responded to you personally before, but wanted to share some information on software with everyone. The thing I missed most about a nonmac computer was basically the microsoft package of word, excel, and powepoint. If you or anyone you know who is a student at a university (uta, twu, unt), you can obtain the package for mac computers for very inexpensive. I got my copy for about $10 versus well over $100 at a store like fry's. This goes for getting the microsoft package and other software for nonmac computers as well. At uta, I purchased it in the computer lab, which is probably where you will want to check at any other university. Hopefully this will save you some money. This is provided by Bill Gates and is intended for students.

I recently purchased a Macbook Pro, and had only worked with Microsoft Software and Windows Operating Systems. I was lost at first, however, Apple offers a One to One training package $100 for an hour a week for a full year. I bring my laptop to the sessions with me, you can use their machines if you don't want to bring yours. They have employees that show you whatever you want to know about scarbooking with your computer. I have learned to organize photos, make productions, and build a website since September. It is worth the investment to learn what you want quickly. Every session I learn tons and have so much fun. C. H.

I work on a mac AND a PC and love both. However, there are many more options for software on the pc than the mac. As for true scrapbooking software I would look into Creating Keepsakes, Hallmark, and look at iscrapbook. For me, non of these software programs offer the true flexibility that I need so I use photoshop and create my own pages.

Love it!!! I've been behind in my "traditional scrapbooking" for years. Literally, I got caught up with digital scrapbooking on my mac in just a few hours. After you get your photos loaded into iphoto, you just pull them over into your scrapbook and place them in the order you want. You can pick from different layouts, designs, etc. Then you can place your order and the send it to you in a beautiful bound book. We also did calendars for the grandparents for Christmas and it was a hit. You can sync your photo program with the mac web program and create a family website, too! Its pure genius!

I have a MBP and absolutely love it! I don't have digital scrapbooking software but do have Iphoto 08 which is awesome!
