I have been told that the best are the scales you see in the doctor's office. Zero them out and then weigh.
I actually don't own a scale,I use the one at the gym that is like the one at the Dr's:)
I have a digital scale--you tap the corner, wait until zero appears, and then hop on!!! Do any of you have a scale you might recommend. I think mine is a little iffy- one day I got on three time back to back and it told me three different weights!!! I know this may be a silly question, but I am really trying to lose weight and don't want the scale to "lie" to me :)
Thanks

My suggestion? THROW IT AWAY!
Judge your progess by how you clothes fit. Weight is an arbitrary #, and all too often, we associate certain numbers with being fat, which is entirely unfair.
If you must have one, though, get a dumbbell and put it on whatever scale you're working with. Good old fashioned ones let you manually adjust them. If you can get it in line with the dumbbell, then you know it's accurate.
Huge congrats on your weight loss, BTW! :)
Try this before you buy another scale: step on the scale with your hands by your side while looking straight forward, and stand still. Give the scale a few seconds to register your weight before moving.
I had the same problem with my scale previously. I think because I would weigh myself first thing in the morning before I was really awake, I would stand different ways, put my weight on my feet differently, etc. Ever since I started doing the above, I get more consistent results from the scale.
How different were the weights? It's normal to have a little fluctuation... you pass waste, and eat stuff, so you aren't always going to be exactly the same weight. My DD had a well check, and lost 6 oz after going pee! lol. You can test the accuracy by just getting something that you KNOW weighs a certain amount... a 10 lb weight or something, and weigh it on the scale a couple times through the day.
I just bought a new scale and I really like it. I've tested it and gotten on and off of it several times in a row and it shows the same weight each time. It's a Taylor Body Fat scale and I got it at Target. I don't know how accurate the body fat function is but the scale works well. I also like that it measures weight in 0.2 lb increments instead of 0.5 lb increments.
i have had the best luck with the plain jane... cheap... no frills scale. you know the old fashioned one that the numbers are on a round thing that spins up to line up your weight with the little red line... i like these because every time you need to weigh, before you get on, you can make sure the red line is on the 0.. and if it isnt (and most of the time it isnt) you can zero it back out with a liitle dial that is on the bottom so you get that accurate weight every time!
omg, I just went through this. I got lap-band six months ago so my weight is very important to me, I track it every single day. I had a scale that would do that.... I got on it one day and it literally gave me six different weights each time I stepped on, and I'm not talking weights that were close enough together, I'm talking like eight or ten pounds difference.
I got mad, picked it up, and threw it, shattering it. It felt great. Then I went to Bed Bath & Beyond and bought a new one.
We ended up getting the Biggest Loser glass scale- it analyzes body fat, and all that jazz. I think we paid about $40 or $45 for it, but it is SO worth it. It is spot on, every time, and if I get on five times, it's the same weight, each time. Also I don't have to tap it before I get on, I just get on it and it goes.
I love it, I'm so glad I got it!
Ha! I was going to suggest the same thing as MandA M did.
Get a five pound weight and place it on the scale and, is possible, adjust accordingly.
Try to weigh yourself at the same time every day.
