Alternate Vaccine Schedule

I live near Annapolis and am looking for a pediatrician in the area (Annapolis, arnold, pasadena, etc...) who will allow me to spread out my child's vaccinations. I went for my 4-month visit today and was actually told not to come back unless I plan to follow the mass vacination schedule. I plan to fully vaccinate my child but was trying to spread them out (not too much farther apart then what has been reccommended) I'm only taking reasonable precautions and would like a practice that is open to listening to parents feelings. I'm still in disbelief that I was essentially "kicked out"

What can I do next?

Hi,
I go to Bayside Pediatrics on Riva Rd. I really like them. Dr. Escabosa and Dr. Nold offer great counterbalance personality wise. Beth Connolly is an awesome Nurse Practitioner and the rest of the staff is generally very friendly and helpful. I have a 3yr old and 15month old. I have never allowed them to get more than 1 vaccination at a time. With my older child, they made me sign a waiver each time (an understandable legal CYA that I was totally fine with) and all was well. With my younger child, I haven't had to sign the waiver (I am not sure if they are just forgetting). When I say I am spacing them out, I do get the expected resistance that there is no reason to do so usually accompanied with "you've got to do what feels right" I actually try to make them feel heard by asking which order I should be spacing them out. And it does matter because some need at least X time between shots in a series and others need no more than X time between shots in a series... so I hope this helps! Bayside's number is ###-###-####. Also, they have Saturday hours and late wednesdays (I think).

I'm with you, if I had to do it again, I would have the immunizations split up. My pediatrician did willingly let me delay the MMR vaccine when I asked, so he may be willing to do the alternative spacing of vaccines. He is Dr. Mannan, and he's on Crain Highway near the Glen Burnie Mall. The phone number is ###-###-#### (i think).

Good for you to look for someone else and follow you instincts! My son is 5 and when he was born I was innudated with the breastfeeding enthusiasts making me feel inadequate and insinuating I was a bad mother because it did not work. Mothers have been mothering since the dawn of time and the existance of pediatricians, so, again, follow your instincts!
I love my Pediatrician- Dr. Nelson Davidson who is in the Odea Building at Saint Joeseph's Hospital. I am in Curtis Bay now and it is a bit of a haul, but we were not willing to give him up. He was recommeded to me by the collective concensus of nurses at St. Joe's maternity ward. He might be able to recommend someone closer to you. He has never pressured me to inject something that wasn't absolutely nessessary or prescribed anything over the top either, and is very willing to discuss any theory or options. He doesn't believe in an answering service- you page him-you get him. Love him and so does my son- he calls him Dr.D and is NEVER afraid to go there.
Good luck and you may be new at this, but YOU know what to do- good for you!

I used to live in the Arnold area and never really used a pediatrician. I went to Maryland Primary Care located on Peninsula Farm Road. If I'm not mistaken, they split up my daughters shots. I did not use a doctor there, I was only seeing the CRNP - unfortunately I cannot remember her name.

Good luck.
