I started with O'Soy. But they also have Yo Baby (Kroger, Tom Thumb, sometimes WalMart)..... anyway, they have great bland flavors... Pear, Vanilla, etc..
We started at about 6 months.
Hi There.....at what age did you start feeding your baby yogurt? Did you give any special kinds/flavors? Thank you!
I started with O'Soy. But they also have Yo Baby (Kroger, Tom Thumb, sometimes WalMart)..... anyway, they have great bland flavors... Pear, Vanilla, etc..
We started at about 6 months.
I started feeding my little girl yo-baby at about 12 mths. She is 2 now and still eats one almost every day, by request. It is very yummy and organic. You can't go wrong.
I started at 10 or 12 months I think - and went with Yo Baby as well. My kids loved it and still do.
I started feeding my baby, now 10 months. Yo-baby at 6 months. He loves it. I also read that yogurt and cheese are safe this early, as they are processed differently than milk.

we began yogurt at six months. it made me nervous since it is a dairy product, but the book that i use to make babyfood states that the ingredients in yogurt are different than milk, making it safe as early as six months.
I gave my son Yo-Baby yogurt, but not until after he was a year old as advised by my doctor (since most will tell you babies under 1 year old should not have milk products because of the possibility of developing an allergy to milk). If you don't have a family history of food allergies, you might want to ask your doc about giving milk products sooner, if your child is less than a year old--not all children who develop allergies have a family history.
My kids started yogurt at about 9 months of age.
Start with plain yogurt. Move on to flavored after a couple weeks or so. A good idea is to mix pureed fruits (and/or rice cereal, etc.) with plain yogurt. This way, you know there are no added sugars or anything artificial going into your baby's yogurt like there is with store-bought brands.
I started my youngest at 9 months w/Yo Baby organic and did have no issues w/it. He still loves it at 2 1/2 yrs.

I started my son on Yoplait, but quickly realized that even the Original kinds (instead of the lite) have very little fat which babies need, so I swiched to Yo-Baby since it is made with whole milk. He LOVES it.
It is generally around 9 months when you start them on yogurt. I used the kids yoplait (dora and blues clues). i used this because it wasnt runny like the others and by this time my kids were giving up baby food all together and using utensils by themselves so it stayed on the spoon for them.
I start at 6 months and I prefer to use plain or vanilla so I can mix my oan DHA organic oatmeal and fruit puree to the yogurt.
I just started my 10 month-old son on it. I probably could have started earlier. I get the yo-baby, and I like that its organic and that it is made of whole milk, but it DOES have a fair amount of sugar (12 grams / container). He, of course, LOVES it. I give him vanilla, because that's my favorite, so I split the container with him!
I think my daughter was about 14 months when we started giving her yogurt. We just did fruit flavors that we thought she would like, ex. strawberry, cherry. We tried the single flavors before we tried the combination fruit flavors. Hope you figure your kido out!:)
My baby books say that whole milk plain yogurt is a good food to start with, so a first food. I started giving my little girl yogurt at 4 and a half months and she liked it. Sometimes I mashed banana into it. Now, at 6 months, I buy yobaby yogurt, it comes in several flavors.
Real (adult) yogurt, we started right after a year, since it's made from milk products. However, they make baby food yogurts that u can give as soon as your baby is to that food stage. My daughter loves the stage 2 mixed fruit yogurt baby food by Beech Nut. As for flavors, let her try them all as long as there's no known allergies that she or other immediate family members have (ie, wait for strawberries, since they're a big allergen for lots of kids unless u already know she's ok w/ them, and if baby's sibling or parent is allergic to say blueberries, shy away from that as well unless u know it's ok) Lots of flavors will mean a less picky eater later!
I think my kids were about 12 mo. when I gave them yogurt, as this was also the time I took them off the bottle and started giving them whole milk. Maybe start with plain yogurt, maybe even soy yogurt...I think there is a vanilla flavor of soy yogurt. At Whole Foods, the one I bought for my kids was called 'Silk' something...they both loved it at that age. ~K.
I started giving my baby boy, now 11 mos, yogurt at about 6 to 7 mos. He loved it and I gave him vanilla first until I made sure he didn't have a reaction to berries/fruit. He loves cherry orchard from Yoplait now. I still don't give him the chunks of cherries just the flavored yogurt. Always check with your Pediatrician just to make sure he/she agrees. They make Yobaby yogurt, too. Have fun.
I started giving my daughter Yo-Baby yogurt around 10 months. She loved it! I would buy the kind that has the fruit and cereal in it, so she has alittle bit extra than just plain yogurt. It is organic and I think a good way to introduce some cow's milk to their system.
I started feeding my daughter yogurt at 9 months. I have only given her plain, whole milk yogurt (unsweetened) and she liked it. I didn't even mix fruit in it until she was closer to 15 months old. Why add sugar if she doesn't need it? And if you look at how much sugar is in yogurt even the baby stuff - it's a lot!! Now she's 18 months old and has started to resist it, so I've added a little (1/2 teapsoon to 1/2 cup) and some fruit to it.
I started giving both of my babies (now ages 1 and 2) only whole milk yogurt at the age of 7 months. They both love the Stonyfield Farm Organic YoBaby. These come in ready to serve cups or drinkable (found only at super Target). I like these because they don't have a lot of added sugars or sweetners like some of the other kids yogurts available today. Hope this helps.
I have always been told between 8 and 9 months. I always gave organic yogurt stonyfield farm its made for babies.
I started feeding my son "Yo Baby" organic yogurt at 6 months of age at my pediatrician's recommendation. I started with flavors we had tried as baby food...peach for example. My son is now 8 months old and has tried almost every flavor of the "Yo Baby" without issue & loves it still.
I gave yogurt as his 3rd food around 6 1/2 months. Give them just plain yogurt as the other stuff is too full of sugar. You can add your own pureed fruit or veggies or whatever to the plain for flavoring without the additives & sugars of the preflavored stuff. Yo-baby from stoneyfield is good, but any high fat plain yogurt will do (babies need the extra fat for brain development).
My son started at about 5 months. He loved the yo-baby yogurt. Now that he is over a year he gets the kid stuff his sister gets. I liked it because it also has cereal in it.
My baby has had Yo Baby yogurt since she was 5 months (nearly 8 months now). She has done just fine with it. My little one is a veggies and cereal girl. She doesn't like many of the fruits, so I don't believe the yogurt harmed her palate either.
We used ya-baby. And it was started at 9mo, because my baby would not eat cereal or baby food.
I use Yoplait blues clues/dora vanilla/banana.
I started my son on it at 10 months and he loves it as a night time snack (about an hour before bedtime)
For the record...read the labels. Just because it says ORGANIC doesn't mean it's better for your baby.
Good luck.
we offered Yo-Baby yogurt at 9 months of age.
I know that there are "baby specific" yogurts available at the store...however, when my 6 year old was 1 we began to give her plain or vanilla organic yogurt. The "flavors" have lots of sugar...read labels carefully. To this day all 3 of my children look forward to the same yogurt that I started them with. Good Luck!
My daughter was 4 mos old when she was put on antibiotics and the dr recommended yogurt to help keep her tummy balanced. I would give her the vanilla kind (fruits might irritate and plain is too salty tasting). However, I would give her some of mine when I would eat it for breakfast at about 3 1/2 months. To this day (5yrs old) she prefers the vanilla kind. I give her Activia.
I don't think I started feeding my little one yogurt till 10mo but I went w/ the child's yogurt (w/ Dora or blues clues)...I prefer it over yo baby because it doesn't have added cereal in it and it has more protein. I also prefer the flavors (flavor diversity when little helps make a good eater later) and it also has the added nutrients (DHA).
