Age of Febrile Seizure

I would think anything is possible. It may not be normal, but a big fever could happen anytime. Im not too familiar with epilispy, but my sister had a grand Mal seizure when we were 5 and with the whole twin thing, I knew she didn't feel good. She told my mom her cheek hurt all day then had a seizure that night and stopped breathing. Like your baby all the tests were normal everytime. She was put on phenabarbatol but we are now almost 33 and she has never had another one. If your not comfortable don't stop! Get 2 ns, 3 rd even 4 th opinions. Good luck love.

One set of our twin grandsons had febrile seizures and they started much younger and stopped, or so it seems now, when they were about 2 1/2 or a bit younger. They do get high fevers sometimes now but not as often and no more seizures. We were told by Children's Mercy and other hospitals, etc., that the febrile seizures should end by age 5 and if not then they need to see someone for epilepsy or further testing. I would think it was not febrile at this point but then again you need a doctor to tell you that and check her out with testing. I would get that done soon to put your mind at rest and from guessing what is wrong.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. My oldest daughter had them. She had her first one when she was approx. 9 months old and I swear it was one of the scariest things I ever went through. She had about 5-6 of them and her last one she was around 3 or so I believe. They were horrible. Even to this day, her body can not handle the adjustment in her body temperature. As soon as I can tell she is starting not to feel well and trust me you know, I give her Motrin right away. When she was younger, I had the routine down. She would get THE look. I would immediately get Motrin and Tylenol in her, get her a freeze pop and throw her in a cool bath. I would do anything to get her temperature down.

Good luck - it does get easier. It's awful to say but I got used to them.
