After Nursing and New Bras

I've finally stopped being pregnant and/or nursing, and I'm really excited to get some new bras that actually fit. I'm still having to wear my nursing bras only because the ones I have from before pregnancies are very uncomfortable now. How long must I wait until getting some new (probably expensive) ones?? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

It depends how recently you stopped nursing and how long you've been nursing. If a year or more, then I'd say go out and buy yourself a pretty new bra now. If you were just nursing for a few months and you've just recently had your baby, I'd wait until you are not engorged and most certainly wait until you lose your pregnancy weight, if that is still an issue. The first place women tend to lose weight is, unfortunately, our breasts so it would be a waste of money to buy expensive bras only to have them not fit in a few months when you lose more weight. Usually after a year of nursing, at least with my nursing experience, our breasts should "level" off where engorgement is not an issue.

I think if you're back to a weight you're happy with, there's really no reason to wait. Go for it and enjoy having your body back! If you think your size could still fluctuate much, I'd wait. Have fun!

I HATE to admit I JUST got rid of my last nursing bras. (My son stopped breastfeeding two years ago.) I had NO BUSINESS wearing those things a minute longer. They got donated to the women's shelter.

I had heard of a shop in Lisle where the woman who measures you is very good at her job. A good fitting bra is worth its weight in gold. Maybe, some of the other moms know the name of the shop I am thinking of.

Take care

I think I waited a couple of months just to make sure I wasn't actively lactating (my breast size fluctuates a lot when I'm nursing between being full and expressed, so I wanted to make sure they fit well). I agree with the others, though, if you're at the weight you want to stay (and weaned a little while ago) you should be fine.

I actually had measured myself a few times so knew my size was consistent before I went and bought new bras. I can't wait to be back in them again... Enjoy shopping. :)

If you are done nursing and don't plan to change your weight drastically it is time to get some braes you love. Enjoy!

It took my boobs a full 3-4 months to shrink to their now pathetically small size ;) I had pretty much gotten used to my size DD pregnancy/nursing boobs (after 6 years of being pregnant/nursing).

I'd go to Target and buy 2 bras that fit. Wait a month or two, see if you shrink any more, then go buy good ones at Nordstrom.
