Back in the day they used to give women who didn't nurse a shot or something to dry up the milk. I don't even think they do that anymore.

When you nurse you slow gradually so there is no need for meds or anything like that. The last time I nursed my kids I was down to once a day for a few weeks so when I cut out that day it was no big deal.

So mom is wrong on this one.

They don't do that anymore. They haven't done it in many years.

By the time you are ready to wean your baby you will probably be down to one feeding a day anyway. Your body will take care of it, no need for outside help.

Congratulations on providing your baby with the best food available!!

Good luck,

No, it stops on its own. The best way to wean is to drop one feeding a week. As you start nursing less, your body starts producing less. Just do it gradually, it's better for the baby and your body that way.

They don't do the pills any more, I asked for em 9 years ago n they said they haven't done that in years, my youngest is 18 months n when I was getting done with him I slowly dropped one feeding/pumping every few weeks so there was no engorgement, an old remedy I have heard of is cutting the main vein outta the middle of cabbage leaves and putting the leaves in your bra and that'll help dry up with no pain. Best of luck.
