OK, after answering a post yesterday about disliking it when people try to sell you stuff on here, I now am desperately in need of advice on a product! LOL!
I am an avid coffee drinker. I love it. I can't live without it. Here's the problem: 2 or 3 days ago I broke the carafe that goes with the Cuisinart coffee maker I've had for the past couple of years. I know the obvious solution would be to buy a replacement carafe, but you've got to order them online (we've actually bought 2 different brands hoping they would fit with no luck) & the carafe alone is almost as expensive as an entirely new maker would cost.
So! With an extremely limited budget, $35 max, I'm looking for a programable maker, either with the pot or the kind you stick your cup under, either is fine. I've heard Mr. Coffee carafes generally spill every time you pour, and Hamilton Beach gasketts break within a year so the water &/or coffee leaks all over the counter. What should I buy??? We've got a couple of Wal-Marts, a Target, a Kohls, Sears, Boscovs & Macy's all within a reasonable distance for me to get there after work & still have enough time to make dinner tonight.
Got my tax return money today---woo-hoo!!! ha! I've decided to go with the Hamilton Beach Brew Station Summit from Kohl's so there is no carafe to deal with. Thanks everyone for your advice & input!!
We have the Hamilton Beach Brew Station - we got it at Target for $38 - I believe. I don't drink coffee - my hubby does. It works well for us!

Macy's generally carries the higher end coffee makers, which probably wouldn't fit your budget unless you have a coupon and they're on sale - I've bought coffee makers from both Kohl's and Target in the past because they tend to have more medium-priced choices (also Bed Bath and Beyond, with a coupon!). I currently have a Cuisinart, which I do like, but honestly I don't see a huge difference in the quality of the coffee that comes out of it as compared to other brands I've bought (Black and Decker and Mr. Coffee, usually). No matter what the brand, they do wear out after a while and need to be replaced - I tend to think of them as short-term appliances, rather than something that will last forever. We usually get a new one every year, so I hate to spend alot of money on it (and I am, for the record, a big coffee drinker!). If you really love the Cuisinart, but don't need a huge carafe, I believe they make a 4-cup model for around $30. Hope you can find what you're looking for!

I love my coffee pot, and altogether it cost less than 20, so I'll tell you about it.
Check out Gevalia (I'm sure you can do it online) and if you sign up for their coffee program, they usually send you an awesome (programmable for time) coffee pot, stainless steel/plastic, that comes with a bonus stainless steel serving carafe and travel mug. All you have to do is buy two bags of their gourmet (yummy) coffee...I can't remember how much they were, but I'm thinking around ten a bag.
Then, you can cancel at any time...of course, we cancelled right away after the first two bags, and had an awesome coffee pot. :) Seriously, no hassle, and I've had it for a few years now. I love it. And their coffee was great.

for my husband and we're thrilled with it - no spills. This is a little outside of your price range but they have a Bella Kitchen (?) one for $19.99 and it's programmable. Probably not the best but it could probably get you through. Good luck.
I second the Gevalia option!!!! I was part of their program for a year...Free Coffee maker with coffee purchase...Great tasting coffee too!
I am also an avid coffee drinker...If you want another option bite the bullet and spend the money...You know its worth it :)
Bed Bath and Beyond have great choices as well...use one of those 20% off coupons
My coffee machine just broke last week too. I found an Oster coffee pot at target for $30.00. It's programmable, and has the pause, and the permanent filter. It's also stainless steel so it looks nice. It's not bulky either. I'm happy so far but it's only been a week. The one that stopped working was a Gevalia that I found brand new at goodwill and it lasted over two years.
Krups.. Remember never purchase the coffee makers with a timer..
I third the Gevalia route! I don't drink coffee much but my husband does and he really likes the programmable stainless maker we have. Even though you bought a new maker, it might not be a bad idea to take advantage of the Gevalia offer so you have a back up. Their coffee really is great and you only have to buy two bags. I think shipping on that order is free, so for something like $15 or $20 you get a pound of lovely coffee and a really nice maker.
BTW, I know it's too late now but in the future, Bed, Bath & Beyond accepts their coupons even when they are expired and you can use something like five coupons in one transaction. Only one coupon per item, though :)
