My daughter has always had pinkish cheeks with some bumps. When she a baby, her doctor said to use Aquafore which helps a little bit. I didn't know if there was anything else that someone would recommend.

What can I do next?

Hi,
I would first have her tested for allergies since it has been around awhile. My son gets this and has many allergies. Hydrolatum worked, and it is gluten free in case she has allergies. Apply right after bath and whenever you wash her face. You have to ask the pharmacist. It is not a Rx, but they won't order it until someone asks for it. Good luck.

If it's dry skin, or eczema, hydrocortisone works great.

Well... without seeing her cheeks, it's a bit difficult to say what it is. (I am a nurse). A few things that immediately go through my head... could it be rosachea (appears like a reddish acne on cheeks) Could it be a food allergy of some sort. Or the simple answer, is it sensitivity to the elements (heat/cold)? Since she's had this all along, I'd tend to think more towards the first two options. It might be worth a conversation with your doctor to decide.

Try Vitamin A&D ointment before going outside in cold/windy weather, before bed, and after baths.

I would highly recommend Arbonne's ABC Baby line of products -- botanically based, pure, safe and made for baby's sensitive skin. I am a consultant and would be happy to provide you with a sample to try.

Hi there,
I just took my daughter to see our doctor due to a similar issue. She has little pink bumpies all over her body, they have recently appeared. The peditrician gave us some Eucerin Plus intensive repair body creme, apparently it has some exfoliating beads that will help wipe away dead dry skin. The bumps formed because there was a little build up of dead skin. We are going to try using this today hopefully it will help both of our daughters. Take Care!

I hope it's not keratosis pilaris. That's what my son has. At first he was diagnosed with eczema, but eczema is different, it's more dry, patchy spots. With KP, there are bumps that look like and feel like goosebumps, and the skin is red/pink. It is most common on the cheeks, arms, and legs. My son has it on all three. Poor guy. I was told after I took him to a dermatologist that he would most likely outgrow it on his cheeks, but that his arms and legs would most likely stay with him. The reason I say I hope it's not what it is is because there is no cure or treatment. I've tried EVERYTHING! The only thing I found that only KINDA worked was from dermadoctor.com, but my son started complaining about it "stinging", so I stopped using it after that. I was bummed because it really seemed to have made his skin a lot smoother. I figured I'll try it maybe again this year because he's 5 now, and I was using it back when he was 3, so maybe his skin was just too sensitive. Look it up on the internet and see if the rash like look of it is similar to your daughter's. I wouldn't waste money on a dermatologist if you find it's what it is. Sometimes someone will find something that works for them for awhile, but that's about as far as the treatment goes. Exfoliating is supposed to help too.

My son started getting this when he was about 4 months. My pediatrician recommended Elidel. It worked somewhat. Turns out he was allergic to eggs (as well as other things) and once I removed all egg from his diet his face cleared up.

My daughter is 6 and still has what you describe and it has been diagnosed as Eczema. I use Elidel but the doctor recommended hydrocortisone in the beginning along with moisturizing it round the clock, especially right after a bath. Be sure to use sunscreen too:)

It sounds like what one of my twin daughters had. She had these bumps until she finally was out of diapers. Even when she was only in a diaper at nighttime the bumps continued. The only thing I found that did help was to use a chlorine-free diaper (ex: Seventh Generation). So I'm wondering if your daughter is currently in diapers at all. If not, then I don't have any suggestions! Good luck!
