A nice card or hand-written note with a small amount gift card to a local eaterie, book store, Bath & Body Works, or something like Starbucks or Panera. They tend to really appreciate these more than the things to accumulate on their desks...
My son is in a mini program (ages 2-4, kind of like preschool) at the park district twice a week. He loves going, and loves his teachers, as do I. I feel he has really learned a lot this year. Tuesday they will be having a luncheon for teacher appreciation day, and all the parents need to donate either a food item or cash. I am making a dessert, but I also want to get each of his teachers a small gift to show our appreciation to them for all they do. Any suggestions? I was think of flowers, but would love some other ideas. For the end of the year, I plan on having my son to help make a photo frame and then put in a picture of him and his teacher, so I need something different from that.

I sell Arbonne and usually give a small aromatherapy gift and hand cream, or will give a small perennial flower and a small Arbonne product. The teachers seem to like the gifts we give! If you need anything please call me at ###-###-#### or email at ____@____.com.

My teacher friends tell me they get plenty of "stuff" and are most appreciative of gift cards -- even those for school supply stores. I try to find out where teachers like to eat and get them a gift card for the restaurant so they can enjoy a nice meal out.
I'de rethink the photo thing. What if 10 other mothers do a photo thing? Where will teacher put all the photos over the years??? If you give her the frame, she can put what she likes in it and it'll have been made by "one of her students".
A gift card....like 10 bucks
my daughter is in a 3-4 preschool, and i gave her teachers a coffee mug (from the dollar store) w/ a sample pak of tea and a few honey stix. they loved it.and it was under 6 for both gifts.
I agree with a nice note, as a teacher, I am most touched by the letters I get from families and students, those I save, flowers, pictures, they end up getting thrown out, but I save the touching letters and even read them when I question what I am doing and if what I do matters....
More than any "thing" a note of your appreciation from you and your child will touch her heart. Was there a particular lesson that really hit the mark? Tell her. Did she go out of her way to ease your child through a difficult time? Tell her. Did she literally spend her own money on a specific project that excited your child? Tell her.
Giving money to go towards the classroom is a hit, or you can ask her to give you some suggestions for needs she has. Books and supplies are always needed and appreciated. xo
Be sure to keep a scrapbook for your son as well....he may have a difficult time later remembering all his teachers. (You too!)
I have a friend who is a preschool teacher and she said she has given away more of the teacher gifts than you can imagine. a person can only have so many mugs, candles etc.
I think the gift card thing is a way to go. there are so many options..starbucks, various stores, restaurants etc. even if it is only the $5 amount, in these times, it is all appreciated!
As a preschool teacher, I think flowers would be very nice for this occasion, and chocolates are always good too. I'd wait for the end of the year to do anything bigger, and I love the idea of the frame made by your son with the picture. I'm sure his teachers will appreciate anything you do for them.
Gift cards are always in order. The teachers can then get what they want or need.
Personally, as a pediatric therapist, I love when parents give me little gift cards for coffee or a book store or a local resturant. When I say little I'm talking $5 or $10 bucks. For me it's the best treat ever because on my tight budget I usually don't treat myself to those things but thos are my all time favorit gifts. And bookstore gifts give them the ability to better thier classroom for the next school year.
You could have your son paint a terra cotta pot and put a flower in it. There is a pattern on line for a gumball machine made out of a terra cotta plant and an ivy bowl that you could give her filled with candy.
Gift cards are great in any amount. I do that with my kids as they are older. As a Brownie leadder I received a mug filled with Hershey Kisses and a gift card attached on top.
Good Luck.
When my kids were in kindergarten we got the teachers keychains but they most liked the cards. One of the teachers kept a scrapbook for her class each year and put the cards she received in that. She said it was nice to open the book every now and then and remember each of the kids.
I'm giving each of my daughter's teachers a gift card to Panera. Oberweiss would be another good option. Somewhere they can treat themselves on their own time.
I like to buy the teachers an inexpensive hanging basket. That way they can apprecaite it all summer long. Walmart usually has them for cheap!!
Please--no coffee mugs or pen holders. We get so many of them. Flowers (for outside) are nice, and you can put a tissue paper with a curling ribbon tied around it. Since there are several people, you can buy shade and sun plants, place them on tables, and let them choose. Another favorite is Bath and Body antibacterial gels and hand lotions--teachers use them all the time. Gift cards are nice, but $5.00 a person can be a bigger ticket item if you are buying for many people.
