I go to a salon in west ashley called LAVA SALON. They have GREAT products there. You might want to call them and maybe ask if they have something...
I've put baby oil on my hair and wrapped it in a towel and went to bed. That helped a lot. (wash it off the next morning though)

Biotin vitamins from GNC. My hair used to shed a lot and look very limp. Now it's longer than it's ever been and looks so healthy. I get compliments on it all the time, even when i feel like i'm having a bad hair day!! I've been taking them faithfully for a few years. I tried NIOXIN products prior to taking Biotin and the shedding stopped, but it continued to look dry & "lifeless".

Olive oil is the oil that is closest to the natural oils your body makes. It is probably the best to put on your hair. It is actually often one of the main ingredients in oil treatments you can buy at salons for your hair. Just make sure you have a good cleaning shampoo to get it out. Nothing too strong, but one that lathers well.

Okay here goes...mayonaisse!!! Put on and let it sit on your hair for a while then rinse out followed by shampooing your hair until it all comes off. The only problem is if you have a jokster in your house you'll have to hear hair sandwich jokes for a while!!! If you don't want to try that, Paul Mitchell has a great leave in conditioner...you can get it from drug stores now usually or a salon that sells their products. Hope that helps.

After shampooing, towel dry hair. Beat up 1 egg and mix with 1/2-3/4 cup olive oil (depending really on the length of your hair) and apply to your hair. Put your hair up in a shower/plastic cap and leave on for about 30 -45 minutes. You can do this as often as needed (weekly or monthly), depending on how dry your hair is.

Hi C., first let me start by telling you that i'm not yelling,i always type in all caps. I have a nerve condition and it just makes it easier to type!with that said, i have extremely curly med/to dark brown hair and one year i decided to dye it blonde!whew!!any who, i have a friend that is a beautian(spell)and she had several suggestions and i tried them all over the course of several weeks so i'm not really sure which one worked, but i'll tell them to you and you can decided for yourself!

All of these involve wetting a towel and microwaving it until it's as hot as you can possible stand it! First of all mayonayse, just get a jar and rub it into your hair and then apply the hot towel and leave it on until it is cold.then rinse your hair.and do not wash... Condition with a good conditioner!(not that i'm a spokeswoman or anything but i use pantene pro-v for dyed hair, cause i have to wash that gray out occassionally!!hehe!!)the next one is to get a good hand lotion, anything that you can pour into your hands easily for just like above you have to repeat that process!!rub lotion all over hair and apply wet hot towel and leave on until it is cold! And also, i'm not sure of your race and it isn't any of my business but i am white and i have also found that some of the conditioners that my black lady friends use on their hair works really good for my hair too!!i love "pink lotion" it really helps alot!but through the years i have found that if i had any problems with my hair that all my black friends have had the greatest ideas..that worked!! Well, good luck to you and your hair!!have a great day!god bless you and yours,T.

When I lived in the southern hemisphere my hair would break and get real dry. i went to a website called hempheadhair.com and bought the caviar shampoo and conditioner....it is a little bit more expensive but well worth the cost. It is a couple out of ca who run the company. If you dont like the caviar one the hemp ones are really good as well.

Hi,
If it makes you feel better, this seems to be a major problem for alot of people right now. I'm a hairstylist and salon owner, and i'm seeing more and more of it with my clients, and even myself. Try to lay off the heated styling appliances, and switch to a really rich shampoo and conditioner. Paul Mitchells Lavender Mint shampoo and conditioner seems to be doing the most good for my clients. Also, try to get your hubby to do a scalp massage for you. It will stimulate the scalp, and should help with "feeding" your hair. Not to mention it feels great!!!!!!!!!!! Hope that this helps

Hey C.,

I'm 41 years old & I too used to have very dry hair. I started using black women products and because of the oils in them (I am a white woman) my hair is now slicky smooth. Try them, it might work for you too! Good luck!

I have recently discovered a WONDERFUL product! My hair is literally over two feet long and I thought I was going to have to cut it all off when it suddenly became dry and frizzy. The name of the line is called "Ion" ( I use their "repair solutions effective care treatment")and it is available at Sally's Beauty supply. If you don't have a Sally's just look it up on the web. I paid $8.99 for a sixteen ounce bottle. Since I started using it, I have been getting compliments on my hair from complete strangers just strolling down the aisle at the grocery store. If you do buy this product, though, the directions don't mention that you get even better results if you wrap your hair in a warm moist towel while it sets. An added measure to increase shine is to rinse it out with only lukewarm water. And it helps to use a good clarifying shampoo, nothing fancy, Head and Shoulders should do the trick. But having hair free of oils and residue helps the conditioning process. Now, if you just want a cool home made recipe, after you shampoo, rinse your hair with a nice full bodied beer. Yes, beer. If that doesn't give you results, you can also use mayonaisse (not salad dressing). Cover your hair root to tip, focusing on the ends, leave it on for about five to ten minutes, then rinse.
Good luck!

I go to Palmetto Salon in Summerville. My hair dresser introduced me to a new treatment by Goldwell called Inner Effects which is a conditioner that works from the inside out. I have coarse, frizzy hair and would normally have frizzy hair right now since it's so humid. I also have a natural wave that will kick in during the summer due to the humidity. My hair is smooth, shiny and frizz free thanks to the treament she gave me. It lasts for about 4 to 6 weeks and she charges $40.00 to do the treatment. To me it is worth it since I save time trying to get my hair straight and then for it to curl and frizz as soon as I walk outside. Plus, I've noticed I don't have to use as many products in my hair. Try it out. There are three different types of treatments to choose from. One will help you out. This is the first summer I in my life that I haven't had to worry about what my hair looks like!

Hello C.,
There is a product called Karacare. You can buy it at any JCPenny hairsalon or if you are friends with a hair dresser they can get it cheaper by using their discount at a beauty supply store. It is pricy but worth every penny. My children are biracial(Black/White) and I've had the hardest time finding something to put in their hair to help bring some moisture to it. It took me many product trials but this has been heaven sent. Hope this helped some:-)

I know exactly what you're talking about. I had dry hair and skin and hated using the oils and things you can buy in the stores. It never seemed to work. If I did try the oils in my hair, I'd have dry, greasy hair! So I started using products from a company that makes cleaning products, personal products, even make-up, from all natural, non toxic products. It worked really well and I haven't looked for anything else since. You can go to www.workathomeunited.com/asheville. If you request more information I can set you up to look at this stuff. It's my home business, but you can just be a customer of the company. You don't have to work there. Hey, it's worth a try! And you can get soap, lotions, cleaing products, vitamins, etc. that are made from all natural ingredients as well. It's an awesome company.

What are you eating and drinking? Maybe your hair needs to be conditioned. Have you ever used a hot oil treatment? VO5 has one that you sit inwater to heat it up and then you pour it into your hair and sit with it covered up under the dryer or natural heat. I forgot which one.

You could use a leave-in conditioner by infusium also. Just try any leave in conditioner. You can use it daily. Your hair needs moisture so try using a moisture based shampoo and conditioner.

As we get older, our bodies adjust to unpleasantries. LOL. Your hair is thirsy. Give it something to drink. How much WATER are you drinking?
