Activity Ideas for a 2-Year-Old Boys Birthday? Oh, Btw It's Curious George

Hi C.! I had a lot of fun with my little ones on their birthdays with games. I cut holes in a big cardboard box and made my own beanbags, and had them toss them into the holes for prizes. Then, I got a clothespin and had them drop it into a wide-mouth bottle. There was musical chairs, too, and don't forget pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey. There must be a bunch more games you can come up with for little prizes, and all the kids really enjoyed these games. The prizes were just little things like coloring books or balls, but the kids LOVED them.

Hi, how about hot potatoe, or get some cloths pens a jar with a wide mouth hole in it. the child kneels on the chair and drops the pens into the jar the one with the most pens win a prize. or musical chairs. good lood

Ok I love planning parties but somethings first.... What theme are you going with?

OK, too funny my best friend and I just had this conversation over coffee last night. you can do Cookie decorating, musical chairs, games where you have to move things like shelled peanuts from one bucket to another using a big serving spoon. They can make crowns and visors out of foam and fecorate with stickers... Piniatas with pull strings are safe and fun too..
a goodie bag hunt (the older kids have to find ones with thier names on it, for the babies hide them easy like you would easter eggs. Tic tac toe bean bag toss can be fun for all too.

Pin the tail on the donkey with little dollar store prizes, dropping clothespins into a glass jar while standing erect over the glass or plastic narrow opening, and all kids of all ages like pinatas to smash and scramble to get the candy. Thats all I can think of at the moment. Of course hiring a clown or a small petting zoo of animals or small critters is not too exspensive at least where i live. Look online. Jean

Musical Chairs is always fun but we've used paper plates instead of chairs. That keeps everyone up and active the entire time and you don't have to worry about having enough chairs for all. The kids really love it. don't forget the pinata!

I did this every year for my kids from the time they were very small all the way up until they were in their teens and they loved it. (I have five, now ages 22, 19, 15, 12 and 9.)I made a big batch of cookie dough, got a bunch of cookie cutters out, and the kids all sat or stood around the table rolling and cutting out cookies. The older kids enjoy helping the younger ones, and if the little ones ate the cookie dough, no problem. This would occupy them for at least an hour. I did all the oven work until my oldest was old enough to use an oven safely. You can even get sprinkles to decorate the cookies with. The kids then have cookies to take home with them after the party.

Last year I was the party planner for kindergarten so brainstormed with really creative people: Stick the tail on the donkey. The pinata is always a hit, but difficult to break. A friend used a razor to weaken the structure so adults or big kids didn't have the only chance of breaking it. Duck, duck goose. Draw a picture of the birthday boy (that could be a cute memory). If you have the space, rent a bouncy house - kids of all ages LOVE those. If you can go outside, blow bubbles. If you make the crown as suggested, get stickers to put them on the crown so you don't have to deal with glue. You can do a base different than a crown, like a door hanger, a visor or a picture frame.

Google Curious George cakes. I just did a birthday party for my 2 year old and had the same theme. There are quite a bit of ideas that are really simple.

Depending on how many are over 2, you can always do a Stuff A Friend party. That's where the kids make their own stuffed animal at the house. You wouldn't even have to do goodie bags because the kids would take the animal home.

Another mess...but cupcake decoration is fun for any age!

Decorating their own cupcakes is fun. Get all kinds of decorating candy, nuts, etc. Licorice strings, gummys, m&m's, raisins. To make it easier, I frosted the cupcakes with different colored icing and then they just had the fun of decorating!

i know kids love the jumper castle and it is for all ages. i used a company named WEE BEE JUMPIN and they are very afforable and all the kids had fun.

If you don't mind having it at a park, do that. Keeps the house clean,too. Make sure you have you are close to the playground, the kids love it.If you like they have these people that who bring ponies for the children to ride.It is awesome.(I can't recall the name, or remember the price, it has been a few years) but the children were occuppied all day and had a good time.Also they love to play that game Red Light,Green Light. BOYS, oh yea. they get to run and stop, They get real silly at it.Make sure you got a few priZes because they will want to play it again.Boys are so much easier than girls all you need is a few balls and they are cool playing and kicking the ball around and chasing it.If you can,Try to get Curios George and his trainer to the party.(My granddaughter had Cinderella)and they will take over for a few hour playing games, painting faces, tell their stories.( My granddaughter loved it and still talks about it,)Just another suggestion for you.If you want to spend money. We bought my son a movie for his third birthday and invite all his friends to a "drive in movie" we went to local stores and got boxes, got popcorn cups from a local theater as well as small cups and a box of candy for each. First Devun opened his gift, the movie, then the kids decorated thier "cars" and then I put a steering wheel in and made one flap into a windshield.

I had pre taped white lines on the carpet and they all parked and laughed and watched. Even kids with a normally short attention span watched most of the movie.

Why not a dance contest? That would get them moving and burn some energy (always a plus from a mommy view point). You could give out prizes for most creative, best up down moves, best side to side moves, best dancing with a partner. If you're doing a theme party you could give out prizes for best dance like a ... dinosaur, cowboy, dump truck ... whatever your theme is.

I just went to a 2 year old birthday party and they had one of those pinatas with the pull strings! It's totally safe, no swinging a bat...everyone gets to pull a string (or 2) and eventually someone pulls the trap door one and all the candy falls out! It was actually fun for everyone there! We will do one for Erika's party I think!

At Party City they have these self inflating games. They have ring toss onto a ship, they have one that is like skee ball where you roll the ball and try to get it into the holes. I had the ship at my son's birthday and he had ages 3 to 8 and they all loved it. Plus the games are only $19.99. I hope this helps.
