There are also language immersion Mommy and Me classes. For the same $ as a "regular" one, you expose them to a new language with the same perks: music, dancing, playing, etc. Good luck and have fun!
Hey!
My daughter will be 7 months this week and I'm looking for some suggestions on things I can do with her that she might enjoy. I recently watched an episode of "Teen Mom" on MTV (a rare moment of late night TV browsing) and I saw one of the girls take her baby to a music class. It's something I'd really like to look into. Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated!!

Libraries have story hours all over the place. Brooklyn will have a parenting magazine or two with daily things to do in the area. When it gets warmer, getting out every day is crucial - and stimulating. Go to the botanical gardens, the zoo. There are free days for everything. Take her in the stroller to the Brooklyn Museum (second only to the Met.). She doesn't need to understand it - she'll get out with people and interesting sights and you'll get to see beauty and keep your mind active. The Bot.Gardens will have an indoor conservatory to wander in the winter - and the zoo will have the bird areas which are indoors, too. Going on walks around the neighborhood, meeting the shop owners is a fantastic way to be outside, build community, bring joy to others (everyone loves a baby) and it's also free; plus you'll pop in to shops you never would have popped in to before. Do things you enjoy while bringing her along.
Music Together is wonderful! My son is now 11 months old, and goes weekly with his grandmother (since I am back at work full time now...). He absolutely LOVES the class. It is also one of the "better" music classes out there because it is based in music theory, but still fun, fun, fun! If there is a class in your area, I'd wholeheartedly recommend it.
Check your library for mommy and me classes.
Check this site & see if they have a class near you:

Also - this class is VERY fun:

And she is all over Brooklyn.

Right around the time my son was 6-7 months old, I signed him up for Gymboree classes. They have music and play classes. Look into it. They give you a free trial class to see if its something you would like. I had him in those for about a year. I met some other great M.'s and we started a play group together. Another suggestion is Little Gym or My Gym. Its great for the babies to get out wih other babies and good for you to get to talk to other M.'s about joy/challenges of motherhood. I highly reccomend. Good luck and enjoy
Another recommendation for Music Together here. My son and I have been doing it since he was about 5 months old.
Baby gyms are fun, too (Gymboree, My Gym, the Little Gym) are just some examples.
Have you tried a Mommy & Me class? Great ways to meet other Mom's, too.
I remember reading an article about some AWESOME sounding baby places in NYC (though they may have all been in Manhattan). Maybe check out your local library, too.
My Son is 8 months old and I am going to be starting a new job where I am only working 3 days a week so I have been thinking of the same thing. I was thinking of doing a swimming class and thinking of doing some classes at the criterion Heritage program. There is Kindermusik for kids which is very helpful..I would love to teach it at some point. Other than that just take them out a little each day :)
You do not need to spend money on a class. Put in a childrens CD (I love Raffi) and sing to her
dance with her and enjoy her. Little ones are so easy to interact with. Just enjoy.
Look into Music Together. We have it in CT, not sure if there is a NY branch. Great program
Well there's Mommy and Me
Also you can do Gymboree or maybe look at a water babies class for swimming when it gets warmer.
I'd check with other local mommies to see what's available in your area.
