Hi...we just moved here about six months ago and I'm having the hardest time finding inexpensive activities for my kids this summer. Do any of you know of a good website for reference? Or can you suggest discount days or such at local attractions? Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

Thank you all for the great ideas. For all of you that want ideas for yourself here are a few we've come up with...

Putt Putt golf Super Saturday- unlimited golf, 20 tokens, hot dog, drink $6 from 9-2
Free movies- Tu and Thurs 9:00 at Common Village, Thur-Fri 10:00 at Rave-Ridgmar mall
Public pools- 1.00 for kids and 1.50 for adults
Cowtown Bowling- Monday dollar night (games, shoes, nachos and soda) 9pm-12am

we also plan on doing a downtown adventure and watching the cattle drive, and another day going to ride the Forest Park train and go swimming

you should make a trip to your city library. many of them have free activities throughout the week that are FREE (ex: story reading, etc.). also check with your local recreation center, i know North Richland Hills has a great one with many inexpensive activities.

best wishes,

We are new here too, so I am anxious to hear response you get. Have you been to the zoo. Wednesday is half price day. We joined the zoo. It was more economical for us to do that as our children love to go. Also, we enjoyed the Dallas Farmers Market for just milling around. That was more fun for DH and I than the kids, but maybe your older kids would enjoy it. It is free (unless you purchase things ;)) That is all we have done so far and I haven't found much in the way of other activities yet.

We love to go to the water parks in Hurst. It's only $4.00/person at the Central location. If you google Hurst Aquatics you'll get their web page with more details.
Something that's been great for us is the Star Telegram press pass. If you subscribe to the newspaper you get one. We have just a weekend subscription.Fri-Sun.$14.00/month.The press pass gives you discounts at many local resteraunts as well as attractions for the family. There are alot of half off discounts with the press pass. It's worth it!
Even if you don't want to subscribe, get a friday paper and they have a complete list of things to do in the metroplex. They also have a web page that's helpful too.Star Telegram.com
