Active Case of Chicken Pox in NE Portland If You're Interested

I just thought I would post this in case there are other moms in the Portland area who are interested in exposing their children to chicken pox in order to obtain natural immunity instead of getting the vaccine. I am aware of a mom in NE Portland who's 3-year-old son has a very active case right now and is willing to have visitors if you would like to expose your children. I'm not trying to start a debate here about vaccination, I just know that there are lots of moms out there who are looking for the good'ol "chicken pox party" like we all had when we were kids. If you would like to contact this parent, I can put you in touch with her.

What can I do next?

I realize that "pox parties" were the thing to do when we were all younger. I also realize that there is some hestitation on the part of some regarding the vaccinations. But please be aware, chicken pox is a very serious illness. For many it is just uncomfortable and they get through it but a significant percentage of children end up in the hospital. Chicken pox can be very serious and potentially deadly. Please think twice before purposefully exposing your children to disease.

I realize that this isn't the place to engage in debate over vaccination and pox parties, but in response to the earlier posts; the vaccine was designed to save money fro parents needing to stay home from work not because chicken pox is 'dangerous'.

according to the CDC, prior to 1995 when the vaccination efforts began there were 4 million cases a year, 11,000 hospital admissions and 100 deaths. That means a .0025% of hospital and .000025% of death. not really very dangerous if you ask me.

Thanks for the post! I've just recently been looking into vaccines and their potential negative side affects. my first is 3 1/2 and fully vax'd, my second just got his 2 year vax's but my 3rd is 8 months and has only been vaxed up to her 4 month shots. We're thinking, pending further investigation, that we don't want to vaccinate anymore at this point. Based on your post, do you have any good resources to suggest about vaxes? I'd appreciate any suggestions to look into.
By the way, my husband goes to Western too! What degree is your's working on?

Shucks! I just finally gave in and got my daughter vaccinated, because I had given up on finding anyone who had it. I didn't want her to get too old before getting it because of the issues with females associated with getting it too late in life. My husband has never had it, and we were prepared to keep him away while my daughter had it. I had it as a kid. Thanks for posting this.
