Acid/Chemical Peels?

I used to have terrible cystic acne until I started using Proactive Solution. Thing is, before I used Proactive, the acne caused me to develop not only terribly uneven skin tone but also a few scars. They never used to bother me because they were actually very small and not really noticable. Now, a few years later, the scars have gotten much, much larger...enough that they look like small holes (or extremely large pores) in my face. It isn't just my perception...I'm having problems with makeup because if I wear any foundation to even out my skin tone, it goes into the scarring and actually accentuates them...so I can't really win! I've started looking into chemcial/acid peels. They are so expensive...has anyone ever done an at-home peel? And I mean a strong one...not Neutrogena or Loreal. I'd love to hear any experience with peels...whether it was at home or at a doctor's office and what level peel you had? Thanks!

What can I do next?

hi S.. I am also a lisenced esthetician. I however do not recommend the chemical way to go. The long term effects on the skin I believe are not worth it. It can cause damage to the skin resulting in thinner skin, splotchiness, and even scarring. You might try a laser center where they have less invasive treatments you can choose that wont penetrate deep into the skin, but you will get results. Also just use a great face wash and mousturize well. doing these will help keep your skin balanced, prevent any future breakouts and keep your skin fresh. I have some products I use if you need suggestions.

Hello,
I know your inclination is to use the strongest peel you can get your hands on, but those
can be damaging too. I would recommend seeing the professionals at Radiant Clinic.
They treat skin issues such as yours, but do it with great care and research. They do have peels
and laser treatments that can reduce to eliminate the scars safely and quickly. I own a skin care business and we have worked with them, we think highly of their work and care they put into peoples skin. check them out at www.RadiantClinicColorado.com

For discoloration and smaller scars we usually recommend our Acai Pomegranate Masque and the Botanical Facial Oil in our product line. These products really can help. I do think you should see radiant clinic first though.

If you are still getting acne, we have products that are very effective. Particularly the Tea Tree Facial Cleansing Bar, Cranberry Clarifying Toner and Cranberry Balancing Lotion. Our products are completely natural, formulated with the highest quality ingredients and active nutrients.

If you have any questions, please dont hesitate
to call us at 800-479-0758 or our Morrison number ###-###-####

All the best!

S.: I know you posted this a long time ago but just in case you haven't figured out an answer.... I recommend less invasive ways to take care of your problem. I am a Mary Kay Consultant and we have a home Microdermabrasion system that helps wonderfully with the problem you're talking about. I would love to talk with you and allow you to try for free the product and see how it affects your skin. Contact me and we can get together. Good luck. PS if you decided on a treatment, could you let me know what you chose and how you're liking the results (that way when I'm talking with people I have real-life situations I can talk about) Thanks!
