Sounds like it really could be a hernia. you really need to get to a doctor. Hernia's are easy to fix in the beginning but if you let it go too long you can end up needing surgery to repair the abdominal wall.
Okay so I am pretty healthy I started working out with a trainer recently last week he picked up my legs for me to walk on my hands something fairly simple I felt a terrible pain in my lower right side. It went away as soon as he put my feet down. That was last week today I was jumping up on a bench with both feet and down It felt as something just shot pain in to my right side several hours later its still hurting It feels better when I put pressrue on it. I said something today to my trainer he thinks it maybe a hernia? I am slightly confused. I know women can get them.. Can somebody help me? I don't have a bulge or anything? could it be that or something else?
So i ended up in the E.R. that night because I started vomiting and had a fever. Turns out I had a cyst on my ovary that ruptured. Thank you guys for all the help. Strange though I had an exam 4 months ago and nothing was said about a cyst?!

You can't depend on the Trainer to tell you what is wrong. He's not a medical Doctor.
You need to go to a Doctor.
Only a Doctor can assess if it is a Hernia or something else.
I have a hernia and trust me - you don't want to mess around with it if you do have one. It doesn't sound like that is what is is though but you do need need to have it checked out. Typically you have a lump above your navel that pokes out when you do sit up likes moves. There usually isn't a shooting pain that results. Mine has never hurt - it just looks gross to see this lump. Go see a doctor though before you work out and injure something further!
I had a check up on a Monday and was rushed into emergency surgery 4 days later and almost died from a hernia. Get to your doctor and have him check it out. Surgery in most cases for a hernia can be laprascoptic with recovery very quick. I ended up being cut open due to the sever nature of mine and had a 10 day hospital stay and six weeks off work. My husband had laproscoptic on his and was back home that night and off 2 weeks.
It could also be a pulled muscle, but you need to make sure to rule out a hernia first. So, go see your doctor.
