My daughter Sophia who is a little over a month old has a head cold and her nose is so stuffed up, but she hates when i try to use the suction thing and the saline drops i got don't work very well, is there something i'm not doing or something i'm missing? Maybe someone knows of a good saline drop that actually works?

What can I do next?

The saline drops are meant to loosen the mucus so you can use the aspirator to suck it out. Unfortunately, your daughter will have to get used to it. Try baby vapor rub and humidifiers too.

Here is what my dr told me to do. turn the water very hot in your bathroom and shut the door place a towel at the foot at the door and get a nice comforatble chair and sit in there with your daughter, this will help loosen the congestion, also when you put her to bed try using her car seat for her to sleep in so she is kind of in an upright postion so she wont get so stuff up when she is sleep and have a vapiorizer handy the steam will help as well. I hope this helps

hi M.!!
I was actually going to suggest what Trisha already said! A humidifier works wonderfully and so does propping the head of the bed. My son had a cold when he was that small too and I remember how frustrating it was... But this too shall pass!! Before you know it, she'll be good as new again. I also wanted to thank you for the sacrifices that your family makes to make our country a safer place. Thank you to you and your husband from the bottom of my heart.

saline drops are as is, there isn't one better than the other, at lest not that I've found. The trick is to do it often, like every hour or so to put a couple drops in and this will actually dry out her sinus'. If you're only doing it several times a day it will stimulate the mucus glands to produce more mucus. This is what a pediatrician told me. I'm a mother of 3, ages 3 1/2, 21 mo and 3 weeks & I have used this trick on my older 2, mostly my 21 mo old-o and one more thing. Don't use the nasal aspirator more than 3 times a day b/c it will make her sinus cavity swell and then you'll really wish a stuffy nose is all you want.
