A Crayon Melted in the Dryer

I didn't realize my daughter had put an orange crayon in her pocket. Well, I did the laundry and put it through the dryer. It melted all over everything!!!!!! My kids clothes are covered with bright orange spots and I don't have a clue how to get them out. I don't care about the pajamas and socks since noone really sees those items, but a lot of my daughters brand new school clothes are ruined. I can't afford to buy new clothes and I was wondering if any of you mom's out there knew how to get the crayon spots out. Thanks!!!! :)

I never tried this personally, but this is what was suggested to me:

2 max doses of liquid TIDE detergent
1/2 lid of liquid OXYCLEAN (or 1/4 cup Sun Oxygen Cleaner powder)
1/4 cup of Borax
1/2 cup of liquid Shout (or Spray and Wash w/Resolve)
1/2 cup of vinegar

Another "recipe" I heard of is:

2 caps ALL liquid 3x ultra
1 cup vinegar
1 cup Borax
1 cup Shout
3/4 cup peroxide

GOOD LUCK!!!

Yikes! Are the spots "raised" like little blotches of wax? In which case, you can put a brown paper bag over the spot and press a warm iron. When you peel back the paper, the wax usually comes with it. If it's the dye used in the crayon, I would contact the manufacturer and ask. There's a good chance that they have an answer!

Try M30. I usually find it in the dollar stores. Rub it in - I use it thick. Let it sit a day or two, then wash and dry as normal.

I've used M30 in my truck when my son tried to throw his gum out the window - it came back in. I rubbed some on, let it sit about 10 mintues, then washed off with wet paper towels, then let it air dry.

My oldest daughter (18)also used it for the dryer, she left gum in a pocket. Use it the same way, then I used a clorox wipe to clean it out.

I have also heard of finger nail polish remover for the dryer.

good luck

Rewash the load in HOT water, with detergent and a full box of baking soda. Repeat if necessary. This should definitely do the job.

I had candle wax drip on a carpet one time and I was able to get it up with a paper bag placed over it and a hot iron. It melted the wax into the paper bag and was off the carpet. The only thing I don't know is if it will stain or leave a waxy residue. I hope this was of some help. Best of luck.
