Hello,

A while ago someone posted a response to someone including the name of a book about the food additives allowed in America vs. Europe. I can't remember the name of the book. If anyone knows which one this is, please let me know. Or, if anyone can suggest any other books that may be along the same line I would be interested in those as well.

I am just realizing now that while my family doesn't seem to have any issues with foods but so many others do. I would like to begin the process of choosing healthier foods for my family. What are the simplest ways to get started?

Thank you.

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone. This is very helpful and gives me the direction I have been looking for. I am always looking for more information about the digestive system due to my son's reflux issues. Any ideas/direction is helpful since I have had little to no luck dealing with doctors who believe that prescription drugs are the answer to all problems.

Thanks again!!!

Hi T.!
Not sure about the book in question. But I joined Feingold.org which works directly with food manufacturers and compiles a food list of foods without synthetic colors, additives or preservatives. As a member, I also receive email alerts when a company has changed their ingredients, directly from Feingold.
Good luck!

It is not the book you are talking about, but I read one that was really good called The Case for Food. It's very insightful.

It may not be the book you are referring to, but I recently bought "Digestive Wellness for Children" by Elizabeth Lipski. I'm not too far into it, but it seems to have a lot of great info about what we are feeding our children. I also bought "Is This Your Child?" by Doris Rapp, which is about how to detect underlying food allergies. I'm also not far into this one (trying to read too much at once!) but it also seems like it will be helpful. You might want to look them up on Amazon to see if they could help in your research. Good luck to you!

Hi T.:

Once again, this isn't a book but the Feingold.org site has lots of information and links to articles regarding food additives. I'm also a member of Feingold and as someone else mentioned, you get mailed newsletters, email updates, and professionally written materials that are kept updated throughout your membership.

My daughter has a mood disorder and eliminating the additives has done more for her than the meds. We're currently trying to drastically reduce and possibly eliminate MSG and all the aliases it comes under as well. It's really amazing how great all of us feel about ourselves now that we are eating much healthier by just eliminating additives and going the natural route.

Good luck.

Jen
